Agree, under his circumstances it would be an easy choice and wish him the best

if that day comes. Would love to see him have major success in NFL. We got a couple of Redshirt Freshmen looking for a shot that are pretty darn good.

Absolutely he should go if first round. I think he is probably not made that leap yet considering the lack of playing time and the stigma against run/throw QBs. But if he can get a 1st round contract I have no problem with him going pro.

I saw somewhere that CBS is projecting him in the 2nd round. Personally, I think he needs another year before he's ready for the NFL.

The NFL never drafts quarterbacks who are "ready". They draft on potential.

WE WANT TO HAVE THIS PROBLEM!!!

Dak will not be a top round pick unless he finishes strong. If he plays anything close to that level with us, I will be the first to wish him well and thank him for his time with us.

If given the choice... always play for money.

Cam did**. But seriously. Football is a violent game and every play could be your last. Go get paid, man.

I wouldn't blame the guy a bit. I'd have happily taken Cam Newton for one season of glory, though with Dak you get a guy who is truly invested in Mississippi State. How many times do you expect Cam to come back to Auburn for a cameo? I can guarantee Dak would be back often. If he went first round, he'd be a great person to represent us at the next level.

However, he's got to deliver. He's basically been a starter for 6 games with "his" team (calling last year's version, Russell's team). He's put up great numbers, he has the arm potential, and he makes good decisions; but he'll sink to the third round with some of the balls he threw against Auburn.

It really is in everybody's best interest for him to put together a first-round season.

Heck. He is gonna have his degree. I don't see how at that point if you are a projected first rounder with guaranteed money, that there is a whole lot of reason to stay.

Adios and good luck if it works out for him

I love me some Dak, but I don't see him being successful at the pro level at QB... it's just a different game. He's the perfect QB for Mullen's system but I wouldn't take him in the first 3 rounds.... just my opinion.

Are you an NFL gm? Good, I hope Dak gets drafted high as possible

He should go pro with a first round grade (if its legit). In reality, Saturday showed that he has a lot of work to do over the winter to get there.

You comment makes complete sense, then you have to see the EJ Manuel pick

and know that there isn't a whole lot of sense in the NFL when it comes to drafting QBs. As someone else in the thread said, the NFL takes shots at potential. They do not have to have already seen someone be good on the field.

Dak has earned the right to go pro..if he is projected as a high pick then congrats to him and I would expect to see him pursue the NFL...if he is projected lower then congrats to State because we will get him another year. Either way he has cemented his place in MSU lore as one of the greatest QBs to ever step on campus. I will be proud of him either way because he is more than just a good player, he is a great person as well.

I dont think hes going anywhere until they force him to go. Dak isnt worried about $ or injury. He'll put those things in God's hands and make his decisions based off his heart. He'll be back!

Dak is quoted as saying if he is a first rounder - he will go.

“One of the worst things is not going, getting injured and hurting your situation,” said Prescott. “I wouldn't risk it if I had a chance to go first round. I'm graduating college, and my time here will be done, I'll do exactly what I wanted to do.

“When the time came and there's an option, first, second or third round and I had the season I wanted to have, I'd go.”

if he is a legit first rounder, he should definitely go. maybe even high second round depending on guaranteed money. that is good for him and us although it may not seem that way right now. that said, i think he has some work to get to that level, so lets hitch ourselves to him and let him earn it.

Will miss him. I do have to ask if Coach trained Tebow and Prescott, wonder what the difference is between the two. If critics said Tebow didn't have the skills for NFL is Prescott more athletic?

It would be dumb not to go take guaranteed money. One more year in college isn't going to get you ready to be an NFL QB. You might improve your draft status, but if you are already projected high that doesn't do you much good. I would hate to lose him, but good for him.

Tebow had terrible mechanics and had Harvin to boost his stats. Not that Dak doesn't have amazing talent around him, but Harvin turned laterals into TDs. Dak at least has to throw to route runners. Kaepernick and Newton have had productive seasons as mobile NFL quarterbacks . Dak is more likely to join this group than the one with Tebow and Manuel.

The NFL doesn't need colleges to get their players ready to play. If a guy has size, skills, and desire they take him. They'd rather have him learn their system on their bench than play another year of college.

I think Dak is a hell of lot smarter than Kaepernick.

He's like Tebow in terms of leadership and being a winner, but Dak has an arm. Tebow could not make the throws that Dak can make. I'm not saying that Dak is a completely polished passer at this point, but he has the arm strength to be one. His passing will continue to improve. His skill set is much more in line with Cam Newton in that regard.

The NFL game is changing. Cam, Kaepernick, and Wilson are all non-prototypical NFL QB's, and all are having success because they cause added stress to defenses. Dak fits right in there.

Who told you that? QB's drafted high in the draft are almost always pushed into action early on. Only late round QB's are drafted on potential.

You are missing his qualifier "and I have the season I wanted to have." Can't tell anything by that.

Have you seen the film room video. Dak is smart works harder than anybody and has improved every year. Not pro caliber is delusional. He can catch so potential tight end hold for field goals with an option for fakes and is very much a pro QB caliber athlete.
