I think you answered your own question, but I'll appease.
When Damien eventually chose Alabama there was some serious backlash from BBN. Every time the kid comes home he gets to hear it. Imagine every time you go back home you have to deal with people who trash you for choosing to take your talents to the best football program in the country and opposed to coming to your hometown school where you'd be thrust into the rotation from the jump and have a subpar offensive line in front of you. It was a smart business decision for him and I know that he struggled with it
But UK fans harrass him daily and tell him he's not going to amount to anything and he could have been a GOD here. It's quite easy to see why this is personal for him and he's got this game circled on his calendar and he wants to show up and show out against UK fans who've treated him like garbage since he left. Even though he's a hometown boy. .
Oh, good grief. Again, it wasn't his decision that angered UK fans. It was the way he went about it.
Damien brought most of this on himself. He didn't need to string UK or the fans along the way he did. I have no issue with his choice but he seems to think he can punk UK and not get any blowback from it. Sorry kid, life doesn't work that way. And now he has some odd grudge against UK? That is absurd and just reinforces the feelings of UK fans who dislike him. Hopefully he'll learn that life is more about building bridges than burning them.

The reason it is personal is Damien still gets multiple tweets daily from UK fans bashing him. Much less the reactions he gets when he is home. I played softball against one of Southern's coaches who still talks with him. He HATES coming back to Kentucky because of how grown men and women treat him. That's 50% of the issue.
The other 50% is he can't let it go and has to keep putting things out like this tweet and the one after the national title game.
Someone said it earlier, it's the Hatfields and McCoys and no one wants to let the other get in the last word.
We have to remember this young man at 17 never asked UK to come after him. Stoops asked if he could and he allowed UK to and UK made a HUGE push. He had no interest in UK until Stoops asked him to give Stoops a chance. He didn't string us along as much as he gave us an opportunity to make an impact.
He chose the best college football program over the last 10 or more years. UK fans act like Arkansas fans with Malik Monk over this. When a kid picks UK for basketball, it is understandable, we are the best. The same thing applies with Alabama in football.

As many have said before in this thread and I said with my first post......there is plenty of blame to go around. Some UK fans have really treated Harris and his family poorly since he made the decision to go South. I even have heard through the grapevine that the Harris family has received some threats by mail and phone. Now, from what I hear it was nothing too threatening but certainly not warranted.
Then what happens is Damien fires back. Then BBN fires back. Then Damien fires back. On and on and on. This all starts off as business and at some point it becomes personal because the feud has been going on for so long......not to mention that we are all emotionally tied to UK.
Harris certainly has played a role in this and won't drop it. And BBN has played a role in this and won't drop it.
It certainly isn't "all on Damien Harris." That's just ignorant.
Those asking Harris to grow up.....insulting his parents (like someone did earlier in this thread) need to get over this yesterday. The few BBN fans who won't drop this are probably aged 20-70.....and they are demanding an 18 yr old to grow up and stop a feud that no one else will drop. Talk about irony.
