This and olemiss in recent history

are why we are better off keeping our expectations at a reasonable level. Coaches don't want to work for a fanbase that can't stomach a couple of down years. Now, if the coach is obviously terrible, that is another story and the bitching and hell raising may be warranted.

Had a UT fan tell me he said no. Not sure what's been officially said though.

This is an email from one of my co-workers, former punter for Tenn. Meltdown!

We will drop football as a sport........adding women's lacrosse, womens field hockey, men's gymnastics.....will be putting rainbow ..........selling the stadium to the local family that bought the cleveland browns and they will move the pro team to knoxville.

We are in dire straits right now........laughing stock of the SEC for sure and most of the country.

From very very reliable sources that I know and give a lot more money than I make in a year....the Gruden thing was real and the AD squashed it. Money people are not happy around this place. But what do you get when you hire an asst. AD from bama that will go back to bama in two years when the current AD retires. No way he wants to build an empire at UT and then have to deal with it when he takes over at Bama. WE ARE F&*KED

Their message board is really fascinating to read. They are absolutely THE most delusional group of people I’ve ever seen. It seems like at least half of them are STILL holding out for Gruden.

Three dumpster fire coaching searches in a row

They have to be idiots, getting someone to coach at UT shouldn't be hard. Quit asking guys for whom it will be a lateral move.

Wonder if it's NCAA problems or something that's scaring everyone?

Truer words are hard to come by. I work with a tenn guy who has been in denial for a while. He just can't believe tenn can be losing. Statements like "we're just not used to losing" with the dawson creek actor's expression on his face. A freaking grown man.

Bingo. This is what happens when the bubble in which you live prevents you from recognizing or admitting to the reality that your program is not as great as you think.

Really though? Arkansas pulled a coach out of their *** who otherwise would be coaching in the granddaddy of them all. Arkansas isn't UT. I just think their administration sucks, and the way they showed one of their best coaches of all time zero respect a couple years ago would make any self respecting coach run for the hills.

Coaches have taken over programs with NCAA sanctions looming (USC most recent, which was worse than they're facing now and they're lateral programs). I also think a lot of coaches like Franklin, Mullen, and Fedora would rather stay at midtier programs because they make the same amount of money, like the challenge, like the idea of legacy, and like the job security versus a school like Tennessee. They fire everyone.
