Yup and good for them. If it makes them happy, I am all for it. If being gay makes Michael Sam happy, go for it Mr. Sam. I support you 100%. Just realize those lifestyle choices are not for me. They are for you. And I would appreciate it if you would respect my opinion just like I am respecting yours.

I'm simply against the media dictating what is acceptable. Every time you disagree with the media, there is someone waiting to jump out of the bushes to call you a bigot.

How exactly is Michael Sam "not respecting your opinion" by playing in the NFL?

I agree...plus the Rams want to go back to LA. The Rams owner is looking for a quid pro quo from the commissioner and the league when the NFL decides to put another team there. IMO

I understand and agree with the argument that it's not politically correct or accepted for someone to say that they personally believe homosexuality is wrong or a sin. But so many of those who protest that they're just voicing their personal religious beliefs are doing so to support discrimination against homosexuals, which is a very different thing than just voicing your personal opinion about homosexuality.

Because the last time I checked, the NFL is a bunch of testosterone driven jocks.

Exactly. I have no beef with Micheal Sam or anyone else that chooses to live differently than I. I do have a problem with the media dictating who is right and who is wrong. On the same token, I have the same problem with religious beliefs dictating who is right and who is wrong.

I didn't read it as "things will happen" as in...... "Things will happen." I interpreted it as him saying it was going to be a media circus. Ala Tim Tebow. I'm inclined to agree with him. It's a non-football interest, so when things go a certain way or whatever the case may be... It's essentially going to be celebrity gossip columns all up inside the Rams' locker room. I'm not going to sit here and say there is never NFL/celebrity crossover, but this one is big time. Look no further than the O Network.

The reason Tony Dungy is rightfully being thrown under the bus is his defense of Michael Vick and how he supported teams giving him a chance "despite it being a distraction." He used almost the same rhetoric for both but came out in support for Vick and said he didn't want anything to do with Sam.

Sam was a 7th round pick and probably considered not worth it ..... Vick was a 1st round pick, and Tebow - I can't remember but was well before the 7th round ... so, talent may have had a lot to do with this as well

I think that's the biggest reason not to draft him. I just don't think he's an NFL starter, and good chance he may not even make the team. Why just invite the shitstorm of publicity you're going to get if/when you cut him for a marginal talent?

I figured polygamy would be the next traditional social outcast to become acceptable. What I'm not sure of is which taboo we'll approve of after that. Any guesses?

Exactly. The NFL is very results oriented. If you can produce, they don't really care about your personal life. Michael Vick is a 4-time Pro Bowl QB. Tebow and Sam are marginal players.

I wouldn't want it either but besides them doing this for TV - from afar - their family seems well formed.

I cant imagine how exhausting multiple wives would be.
More power to anyone that wants that and is able to juggle time and energy well.

As for the lifestyle- I am completely fine with it as long as the adults are all consenting. All the scare tactics- it breaks the sanctity of marriage, it is against God's will, it can cause family arguments, etc are complete jokes. All that happens in hetero marriages all the time. Divorce, cheating, beating, mental torture, passive aggressiveness, etc etc. These are everywhere.
If 3 women want to marry 1 man, ok then. If 3 men want to marry 1 woman, ok then. Not what I would go for as a family, but cool I guess.

Rightfully being thrown under the bus? Tony Dungy has some very solid reasons why he would not draft Sam....biblically speaking, very solid. He's just giving a PC reason why he wouldn't

Solid reasoning based on the Bible?
Come on now- you are really going to source the Bible for solid reasoning? Talk about picking and choosing what to follow.

Really because the media is a huge driver of revenue for the NFL (and with the media comes public perception, opinion, and involvement).

The media and public aren't involved in my day to day life, so only my superiors judge me, and I can assure you the only thing they care about is how I perform at my job. They could care less, otherwise.

Wonder what happens the first time an o'lineman gives Sam a push after the whistle. The o'lineman will be charged with a hate crime by holder*

All kidding aside... I bet the refs will be keeping a close eye on Sam and will be happy with their flag
