He can not beat good teams. He is either too hardheaded to make adjustments or just not that smart of a coach. We has no wins over a Top 20 team, none. That tells you something.

He is clearly regressing...

In all my years as a State fan, I have never expected us to lose a bowl game. Even the Cotton Bowl where I SHOULD have expected us to lose. But I fully expected us to lose this one.

To put this in context, I never doubted that Crooms would win his bowl game. Yet, I never doubted that Dan would lose this one.

I never thought I'd be disgusted with 8-5 and a NYD bowl.... Dan is a miracle worker.

They fixed many of the defensive problems today. But they can't see what's working/not working with the offense. And that's Mullen's specialty?

What has happened is that Mullen's foundation has crumbled and now the truth is being exposed. He tried like hell to implement his gameplan of "own the State" and it came so close to working, but it just did not. Now that that strategy is gone, what does he have? It doesn't seem like much in my opinion. Ole Massa has brought on a fiery young coach with what appears to be a good gameplan. Recruiting good players is something that Coach Mullen doesn't appear to be very good at ESPECIALLY outside of the State. He needs to have his *** living in Texas and finding us some diamonds in the rough. MS is not a place to do that.

If he can't do that, he needs to take one of those jobs that everyone is throwing at him so that we can get Hud on board before someone else snatches him up. The next few years are going to be a disaster if we don't get a QB and some athletes.

sure wish there was a valid argument to refute that, but there isnt.

however, the fanbase is just as much to blame for getting too caught up in the trash talking and not realizing that the troy game, and the struggling moments in other games was a pretty good indication we didnt have the team we all and convinced ourselves of.

What defensive problems were fixed today? No bashing, just asking.

I felt like the D played well today. NW had a pick 6, and a TD drive that started inside our own 10 off of Russell INTs.

Having said that, NW is no where close to as good on offense as some of the other teams we play (TAM, OM, and probably Auburn next year).

The last portion of your response is exactly what I was thinking when I posted this. The defense was pedestrian against NUs average offense.

I saw missed/weak DB coverage, QB scrambles that cost big yards, and a lack of consistent aggression by the front 7.

We have the players, just no the right coaches... It all starts win Dan...

Not 100% sure I agree with this - I think we have the players to be better offensively as I feel we underutilized most of our favorable matchups, but our DL just isn't very good, our LB's are avg. and our safeties played terrible for most of the year

This time a 1000. No matter how hard I want to believe, I see very little substance to the program as a whole. The head coach looks absolutely clueless at the first sign of adversity and that trickles down. He is also stubborn as hell. There were obviously some "off the field issues" based on apparent personnel decisions that were made throughout the course of the season. There was no real leadership on the sidelines nor on the field. The "diamonds in the rough" classes of 2010 and 2011 are killing us from a talent perspective right now. I could go on, but would really only be repeating what every one else has already said or hinted at. As for next year, my expectation is 5-7. I think is going to be a very long and disappointing season.

And all of you spring practice attendees, please do the rest of us a favor and do not hype up some jackass that will inevitably end up playing about 3 snaps a game and making almost no impact in any shape form or fashion.

On to baseball gents.

3 INTs, two 3&out's, 20 points given up. That's a decent showing.

The DL good good pressure most of the day. We had some sacks and hurries.

Against other true spread teams....

Troy 572 yards, defense gives up 24 points.

Texas A&M 693 yards, 38 points

Ole Miss 527 yards, 41 points

Northwestern 357 yards, 27 points which includes a drive that started on our 5.

I don't understand why people can't see our offense killed our D all year. A 70+ ranked passing oriented offense gives your defense aids. At least when we were ranked 70th last year with Relf, we were run heavy and controlled the flow of the game more

Dan is in charge of his staff. They are his coaches and they are not getting the job done..
