all been blinded to how bad the D is? We are all so excited that the O can actually do something besides run up the mddle, that we forgot the D. Our DBs looked better last year because Diaz's Defense kept heavy blitz pressure on the QB most times, and they had to get rid of the ball early. Without that pressure, our DBs are getting burned as well, not that they are the biggest weakness on the defense. And by the way, for those who have in the past, please stop saying that Stars do not matter, because they do. Auburn is a young team that is made up of many 4 and 5 star players. Their youth was overcome by talent, and we better get some quick on D.

“That’s really poor by our defensive coaching staff,” MSU coach Dan Mullen said. “We’ll get that fixed.”

</div>I agree. Auburn's inexperience looked ugly for a lot of the game and once in a while they just blow up a play on talent alone.

tolerate this ******** vanilla defense much longer. He is on a mission to succeed with or with him.

waving and yelling on the sideline. I don't know if he can coach or if he was riding the Diaz coattail express last year. I'll say this, there is no way they were co-defensive coordinators last year, otherwise TX would have interviewed him as well.

Manny got hired away after only one year. I think Dan and everyone else was expecting maybe 2-3 season out of Manny, which would have given him more time to mentor Chris. That's why I say unfortunately for Chris. As it turned out, Manny was here for a year and I suppose the plan was to promote Chris whenever Manny left, but it happened so soon, we were forced to promote him before he was ready.

If he was not ready then he shouldn't get the job. We "had" to promote him to early, like there is no other D coordinator in the country that would want an SEC job?

Auburn passed for 146 yards. I'll take that any day.

Our D couldn't stop the run. Mainly runs off tackle to the right side.

What we saw as a replay of the Memphis game, this time against an SEC offense. The LBs got out of position, didn't get off blocks, and also missed open field tackles.

The whole Manny and Chris Wilson co-coordinator thing was a little bit odd from the start. If I remember correctly, they both had their first press conference together.

It's not that we couldn't get somebody better. But, IF we did- and I don't know that we did- make a promise to Chris to promote him, and we didn't do it, it would reflect pretty poorly on our part.

Also- what does Geoff Collins do? Isn't he a Co-coordinator as well?

We might be finding out why teams don't do the co-coordinator thing the hard way.

a little ahead of yourselves. Wilson just went up against Gus Malzahnwho most consider one of the best offensive coaches in the country and he did not fare well, I recognize that. Obviously he still has alot to learn and hopefully he is learning and will make the necessary adjustments to have a good defense, we don't need a great defense this year with what we have on offense to be successful. I am not ready to throw Chis under the bus yet but he has got to show me he can make adjustments to improve the defense and continue to improve it over the course of the year, I hope he can. Of course this week is a different story and the focus will be on whether Mullen's offense can move the ball against LSU, Bama, etc. like it has done so far. LSU certainly has alot of talent on offense but I will be surprised if they hang 40 on us, here's to not being surprised!

What hurts about this thread is that Wilson may be our best recruiter. Quay Evans and Ward would be gone in a second if Wilson was fired.

All AU did was run the stretch, option pitch, and swing pass to the outsides of the field and we couldn't defend it. We did very well defending the run in the inner part of the play, but AU exploited our weakness outside part of the field. Houston did the same thing in 2009. Speaking in broader terms, that is usually a weaker part of the defense, anyway, and the only way to defend it is penetration at the LOS, and we didn't do that. Our D-Line did not penetrate yesterday and that was a big problem. We need to be able to get in the backfield and disrupt plays.
