i hope not

Stricklin needs to find out what Mullen needs/wants during the bye week and work on getting it...
Then he needs to see how this plays out and go from there.

I know alot of people are pissed at Stricklin for how he handled the basketball situation, but I still like to think Stricklin is doing a lot of things out of the best for the university and the athletics program. He is very calculated, we may lose Dan, but it won't be because of money. I believe that!

Stricklin in charge of a head football coaching search scares the **** out of me.

Make him an offer he can't refuse.

As far as our next bball coach, I think being #1 in football, #2 in women's golf, top 25 in softball, and top 10 in baseball makes our basketball job more attractive now than back then, putting all other things aside. Much harder to 17 up this time.

Womens basketball will be top 25 this year.

Mens tennis 19 last year and 10 or so the year before.

Any chance we hear of a extension/raise during the bye week?

No. They can't sign anything during the season so I doubt they'll be talking about it at all, but to the extent they do, they'd have to be idiots to let something leak at this point in time.

I don't want to give nafoom poster material by bringing up women's sports, but I feel like as an entire department we're REALLY healthy. I thought the opposite when we brought in Ray. Again, that's without mentioning where the basketball team itself was at the time.

MSU and her people have proven very recently they're willing to rally around anything it has to offer.

Absolutely not. There is no reason to. He isn't going anywhere right now, its the middle of the season. The team may **** the bed and win only 1 more game- why would a raise/extension be announced now?

Furthermore, a raise should only be given IF its needed. What he is already being paid is a ton of money and its expected that he perform well at his job for that money. So him performing well should hardly require even more money.
When there is an extension/raise, I hope it is heavily incentive laden based on performance and staying at MSU. Set a base salary that is thru the university and club. Then pay on top of that for- reaching a bowl game, winning a bowl game, finishing in the top25 of the playoff poll, finishing in the top 10 of the playoff poll, reaching the playoffs, winning in the playoffs, winning the national title.
7 things that have meaning and are benchmarks for which to judge performance.

And pay our assistants more since they are the ones developing the players, recruiting, and working in game with each group. They are the ones that will bolt for greener pastures- best keep em for as long as possible.

---I have no idea what his contract looks like right now, if all that I already posted is already included, then it just reaffirms my awesomeness. If it isn't included, why the 17 not? Paying for performance is always better than just paying money when it comes to competitive employees. A coach should not hesitate to be paid for performance, if they believe in their abilities.

Volleyball and Soccer are the only two that are really terrible (Men's Basketball excluded- we'll see how this year turns out)
I wish we were pretty good in at least one of those sports, games could be really fun.
