Actually they DID do something about it. It was a done deal that cowbells would be illegal and there would be fines THIS season, and Stricklin pulled a miracle out of his *** and gave us a chance to keep our cowbells forever.I think the way it is setup we are doomed for failure and I find fault with our administration for not seeing that fact up front and trying to do something about it
Do you honestly think our AD would do something like this if he weren't FORCED to by the SEC?I would have a real problem with our administration switching to metal detectors, putting police in the stadium to take up the bells or issuing any sort of crackdown
Then don't ring a cowbell when you're not supposed to and encourage everyone you know to do the same. If enough people follow the rules, you'll never be frisked or wanded at the gate by security looking for cowbells.I don't think this was handled appropriately and when I have to get frisked or wanded at the game I would have a problem with it and I would speak out.
Given the only two options available (keeping the bells with the current rules or losing them for real), this is as close to a win as we're going to get. I don't like it either. But it really doesn't matter what you, me, or any other MSU fan thinks about it. That's the situation we're in. And given those two choices, you'd have to be a 17ing idiot to choose to lose the bells for real.If getting to keep the bells means living with the current rules I don't see that as a win.
Stricklin said it best when he said that we'l find out how much MSU fans love their cowbells in these next two games. If you love them, follow the damn rules. It's that simple. Because that is the only way we'll keep them. Unfortunatly, I'm afraid fishwater was right. Our fanbase is too 17ing stupid to keep the cowbells.
