Not really. But I thought this was a cool reply from ESPN for demanding the SEC Network from my cable provider. If you haven't done it, you might want to. http://www.getsecnetwork.com/

Word is that directv and dish are very close to having the deal finalized for the SEC network as part of reworking their cumulative deals with ESPN...

IMO everyone will have it before the Carolina/aTm game on opening Thursday -- but what interests me is the geographical extent that it will be on the "primary tier". My guess is that ESPN attempts to take that well beyond the extents of the current SEC footprint, given the overwhelming popularity of the league nationwide. That will make a tremendous difference in the overall earning potential of the network.

Bottom line is that in FY2015, I expect us to be a top 25 athletics dept in terms of overall revenue. We'll be adding about $10mil/yr total from the expanded stadium as well...

I haven't seen anything about it but who's not carrying it? Is xfinity a carrier?

I called DirecTV over a month ago to discuss this (I've been with them since 2001). The guy I talked to said that they had been discussing in meetings and that "there was no way that DirecTV, who markets themselves as a huge sports provider, would not carry the SEC Network".

I got an email that had virtually identical wording directly from the SEC Network. They must be forging Dan's name.

As of today, the only provider on the dotted line is UVerse...

But it's still 6 months away from launch. August 21 is the actual launch date...

Strange, I got the same exact letter-the only difference being, call Time Warner Cable instead of Charter. The number was different of course.

If I were to re-up with them with new equipment and the obligatory two year contract, are they confident enough to let me break the contract if they don't have it? Because that's the only way I am staying on board right now.

Does anyone know if SEC network will be on ESPN3? I just recently cut my tv off.

It's going to have it's own online viewing option/app most likely that will at least initially require you to be with one of the paid providers for your TV service...

Xfinity is the digital arm of Comcast. They are the largest cable provider in the world. There's no way Xfinity doesn't carry it when the season starts.

I read that this is actually pretty early for cable providers to agree to carry something. The SEC/ESPN are going hard at it early.

Uverse already has a deal in place, which makes sense since the Big 10, LHN and Pac 12 networks did as well.

Directv should have an extra 30 million a year after they kicked Jim Cantore in the nads. That should free up some money for the SEC Network.

No Worries mate

Any Dish or Cable Co. in the Southeast that does not allow you to sign up for the SEC network,

will be committing Harry Carey.

Now they might add $7.00 to your bill.

I used to like Cantore pretty well, but find him pretty irritating now for some reason. Maybe he's a bit too "in your face" for me.

I have Dish, and they had a similar issue with TWC a few years back, and were even going to have their own "weather channel" as I recall. That never panned out and they got TWC back after a few weeks. I expect the same to happen at DirecTV. TWC is pretty good at times (except for Al), but I'm not sure they're the "life saver" they claim to be. And nowadays they have more reality shows on than they show the weather. I think that started about the time they became part of NBC.

Might be included in the base price. Big 10 Network and even the BYU network is on my Dish.

Yes it could be

my brother n law had that same discussion 6 months ago.

Said he was getting the B10 NW. My reply was that he got it , but he was out of their market area. He sure as hell wasn't going to pay for it.
The B10 wants TV sets, where they can't get $.
I'm sure the SEC will do the same.

My point is, that it will be available to you at some reasonable price.

I don't see Directv carrying TWC anytime soon. They are getting a 24/7 weather channel free from Weather Nation. Accuweather plans to launch a weather channel later in the year. Three weather channels fighting to get on the air is going to drive the price for each subscriber down in a time when most people get their weather on their phone.

The main reason the PAC12 Networks in not available on Directv is they have 7 channels with 6 of them being regional channels. Directv doesn't want to allocate 7 channels to a regional network. The Big 10 and SEC network broadcast all their regional sports on one channel making it much less expensive with less pain in the *** to allocate the space in the channel line up.
