Hate to hear that, he was a good ball player and ended up being a heart surgeon

I think. Was it an illness, accident, what happened?

Man, that is terrible. He was one of my favorite players back in the day.

Shocking. Loved watching him play. He was a great lead-off hitter and got on base regularly for Clark and Palmeiro to drive him in. Played a very good CF as well. Gone way too soon.

I am crushed and devastated. Dan was one of my best childhood friends, playing ball in the neighborhood every day, our Choctaw Little League All-Star team winning the City of Jackson Championship when were 12 years-old, our trip to the Astrodome to watch the Astros play the Mets and “Say Hey” Willie Mays, wrecking my old Maverick Grabber the first night I had my driver’s license, and so on and so on…. We had reconnected over the last few months, and he just saved my mother-in-law's life performing successful cancer surgery two weeks ago. Not only was Dan a true and loyal friend and a caring and loving person with a sense of humor, he was one of the greatest baseball players in the history of MSU. Please pray for his sweet Mom, Peggy, and his brother, Early. God, I pray that You be with his family.

Dan was my friend, my teammate, my mentor. I am shocked and saddened at our loss. Does anyone know what happened? His mom was the greatest ever. My thoughts and prayers are with his family.

my father-in-law had a bypass done by dr. van cleve about 2 months ago so he was fairly clued in on the situation. apparently, he was at the hospital till around 12 last night and didnt feel well. he thought it might have been the flu. he went home and (per the report i got) his mom? or girlfriend found him already passed. he was scheduled to do surgery this morning...

i dont know his personal story (so that girlfriend/mom part might be bs), but that is coming from a very recent patient. prayers for his family. he was an msu great and will be missed.
