I hope Herscher goes 4a south.
Centralia was damned tough - this was a nice learning experience for the Crusaders. They are not world beaters but they will go deep in 4A.
Loyola now with weinergate in the rear window.
LA=front runner with about 5 other teamsLoyola now with weinergate in the rear window.
There's going to be an interesting 8-1/7-2 matchup with Huntley. Also an interesting 8-1/6-3 game with Warren. Some favorites could be sitting at home in rd 2.
The unenviable NV position last year where a single loss bought you a GW in Round 1.
GW might end up being a 7-2 road team in Week 1 of 8A. If DGS and Eville can both pick up 5 wins, GW might end up in 7A.
Huntley is my dark horse in 8A. Thought really highly of those guys coming in and don't see anything that has changed my mind. They will be a very tough out.

E'ville will most likely have 6 wins. You can count them making the playoffs.
GW needs Eville + 1 to get pushed down to 7A. Eville in pushes out PN, so I need another big team (DGS) to push into 8A
WV might be able to make a push that would help GW into 7A. However to do so they need to stop turning the ball over (minus 2 in turnovers again last week against a bad Metea team. Plus two TDs called back - one legit, one a ref mistake on a phantom man down field call. Can't do that against good teams and expect to win). They need to win 3 of their next 4 games (WWS, LWC,NN,WN)
WWS - a "good" 0-5 team. This is a must win game to get to 3-3
LWC - sounds like WV will need to play a mistake free game and play like they did in the first half of the GBN game to have a shot.
NN - I don't think this is a good match up for Waubonsie unless the coaches get the right mix on the DLine to put semi consistent pressure on the QB with just rushing 4. NC killed us with the pass with over 300 yards and 4 TDs.
WN - this is a good match up for Waubonsie. WAubonsie is very stout defending against the run. WV has run the ball on everyone this year, should be a slugfest and a tightly contested game expecially if both teams need to win to get in like last year.
Check back in two weeks captn! Should know by then if WV can make a run or not!!
Didn't want to push WV. Just not sure they can pull off two out of those last three now that LWC has shown themselves to be significantly capable. Take care of WWS and get through LWC and I will start to get excited. Best of luck to WV. Tough schedule out there this year.

DGS ain't gonna happen.
Who gets them? Leyden or DGN? I have them beating Morton, Leyden and DGN to get to 5 wins. Which team best DGS?
I've got North taking them down in the Civil War.
VD21,
I wasn't at the game. My nephew plays Freshman ball and my brother was there. Was informed the Dline played pretty well. I guess there's a "rotation" going that seems to work. 2 more kids have been getting playing time and contributing. Big boys need the rest (trust me I was one of them a long time ago).
Problems I'm hearing is turnovers. Putting teams on short field.
Don't sleep on Oswego, side note !
Barrington. Though I don’t think they’ll be a dark horse after Thursday
They (Barrington) already seem to be getting a ton of respect - just like last year.
I expect both Palatine and Barrington to make a good showing this year... I hope the IHSA can continue to avoid the 1st/2nd round conference rematches that they used to seem to enjoy.

I disagree about the conference rematches, I don't like them, but the seedings should shake out the way the seedings shake out. I prefer to see new matchups more than the next man, but not enough to start arbitrarily moving teams.
They had a policy of trying to avoid conference rematches in rd 1 even with 1-32. I think I recall once where they swapped two teams with the same record to avoid this.Seeding 1-32 Fixed that for 8A and 7A.

I wish. This was probably before the 2010 season. For some reason I am feeling like it involved LWC. Someone else can chime in if they remember. Are you old schooling me? I've never heard of any seed being moved due to conf affiliation since 1-32 came in a few years ago.
Do you have any documentation of your position?
Imagine the contortions involved with seeding an all Private playoff class, especially the larger class which would be CCL-ESCC bingo. If a conference has 5 teams in the playoffs in a 32 team field and most are 8A - the odds of a rematch is pretty damn high that somewhere in the playoffs in round one or two that there will be a conference rematch. Where's a math teacher when you need one!
Do not go to sleep on Lincoln-Way Central in 7a
