Ole Miss fans have already heard Dan Mullen 1) say he'll dominate in-state recruiting 2) promote violation of SEC rules by encouraging cowbells at games, and 3) call out Ole Miss by saying he can't wait until Thanksgiving.

Mullen has just demonstrated why he won't succed in Starkville - immaturity - not being ready to be head coach. Go back a year - did you hear Houston Nutt say that or anything similar? No! He said he sensed the hunger among the fans and cited the tradition at Ole Miss and how he wanted to bring that back. Those words ooze the maturity of a veteran head coach and are a stark contrast with what State just hired.

Four years ago, it was Ed Orgeron talking of a Sugar Bowl and National Championship and Ole Miss fans ate it up just like Bulldog fans are doing now. Don't be too hard on them. In two or three years, they'll witness the error of their ways.

for the guy with the bigger cock. Nutt is very mature and loyal Mrs Childers, he's just getting his check and looking for other opportunities, jackass.

Big Dave, if Nutt cant find his credit card when settling up with the Days Inn next year, I'd check with Hornsby, the classy safety Dale Nutt signed

Nutt was at Arkansas for 10 years and only left because the Hogville bunch made it unbearable to work there, and also they made it where he was going to have to be forced out. He now gets attention in the coaching carousel and uses it to his advantage, as any coach would, to get a raise at Ole Miss.

Show me where he's been a *****?

And I think Dave Childers is a dip, but it's silly to suggest anyone is "afraid" of Mullen at this point. I think it's a good hire for a coordinator hire, and I know he will be an improvement over Croom. Also, let's be real here. If Mullen has any success, he'll be out the door to somewhere else. State is a great stepping stone for him into head coaching. He can start out in the SEC without coaching in an inferior conference.

Well of all the nerve.

Hell, a "mature" Jackie Sherrill arrived in Starkville with a decade of head coaching experience and he still saw fit to rattle "Mississippi's" cage and promote the use cowbells. It got their panties in wad then, and Mullen's antics are apprently doing the same.

Get over it twit.

Damn! I can't believe we didn't get one single endorsement from any Rebel anywhere.

What the hell was Byrne thinking? I want to know why he didn't have that part covered.

In 3 years, somebody remind him to add "hiring a coach who Ole Miss fans will embrace" to his list of criteria.

How could he have missed that!!

As an Ole Miss fan I'm glad you hired someone with no head coaching experience. Just saying. I believe he will have some success, though. However, I think State will be his learning process, and then he'll jump to a better job. I also embrace him because he's young and I look forward to benefiting from his mistakes.

Anybody who bought Ed Orgeron's ******** hook, line & sinker shouldn't be lecturing others on maturity.

Cowbells are the only Southern Tradition that hasn't been repealed by the 14th Amendment, Brown vs. the Board of Education, or the 1965 Civil Rights Act. The NCAA, AMERICA'S college football ruling body, ruled cowbells are okay. Yet, you keep living in the past with your <font color="#CC00FF">"cowbellsth awe againsth the wules"</font> mantra.

Even if they ARE against the rules, so what? In the ante-bellum South, educating Slaves was "against the rules". In Nazi-occupied Europe, hiding Jews from the gas chambers was "against the rules". Behind the Iron Curtain, smuggling Bibles into Eastern Europe was "against the rules". So, if you want to side with the godless, pro-slavery Nazi Communists, be my guest. As for me, I prefer to stand by God and America.

he would've stayed there forever if they would've let him. at um, however, the circumstances are different. he has no ties to um or oxford, other than it is his current coaching position.

i'm not saying he's a *****, but i wouldn't put it past him to jump ship for a big-time program if the offer came in the next couple of years.

MSU fans are excited about their new coach because he hasn't lost a game as a head coach.

On the other hand, I don't think you'll find Ole Miss fans that are significantly concerned with your new coach because he hasn't won a game either.

That said, critiquing a rah-rah new coach pep rally speech is pretty stupid. You know why? Because no matter what he said, he still hasn't coached a game. Living in Memphis, I heard a lot of critique from non-UT fans about Kiffin's press conference. At the same time, I heard UT fans glowing about his press conference and how great he was. And to both groups, I say, why don't you wait and let the guy coach a game first before you start trying to determine if he will or won't be successful. The same thing applies here. Childers is using a press conference to say Mullen won't be a success. That makes him an idiot. Of course, on the opposite end of that spectrum, anyone that determines he's a winner based off a press conference is just as much of an idiot.

Nutt's prowness on the recruiting trail? Greg Byrne has out recruited Nutt in the last two weeks. With Ole Miss dominating the egg bowl, and Mississippi State having a coaching change, and yet State is still dominating in-state recruiting bother you at all?</p>

Greg Byrne has outrecruited Nutt? You sound like a Hogville poster who doesn't understand recruiting rankings or the fact that none of it matters until February.

Does it bother you at all that you believe anything? Orgeron was a good recruiter, too.

But he's never done anything whorey. He'll be here a few years at least. He has a huge farm outside of town and his daughters love Oxford. Two of them are students here. He's not leaving after two seasons. If he does, we hire another guy with head coaching experience and success.

personified by folks like Childers.

I hope that Gene is just as embarrassing to you and Yancy, Chuck, and company are to us. McCready is the only guy among the bunch that has ever written anything remotely readable and he is daily becoming more of a fanboard hack.

Mullen will much better at MSU than Orgeron was at Ole Miss. Hell, I would be better at MSU than Orgeron was at Ole Miss.

...coaches with brass balls. That is why Spurrier is my favorite coach in the SEC. Now I recognize Saban is the best coach in the SEC, but he's still Nick Satan and I hate him.

Some say Les Miles has brass balls, but I think he's been luckier than good.

Anyway, preach on Mullen!

...and speaking on "preach on" or "push on" for that matter...Mike Henig is in a Henig Furs holiday commercial sans fur coat. Just FYI.

State has been without a coach for the last two weeks, and Ole Miss has made up very little ground on in-state recruiting. You believe Ole Miss is not getting dominated in-state? Please, explain to me why you think that?

Didn't he just get offered the Auburn job?

I have learned to not even pay attention to recruiting until then. But let me guess: You just got some recruits, the total number of which inflates your ranking, while Ole Miss has fewer commits thus far, giving us a lower ranking at this point. Correct?

I just don't care enough to even read the list. Recruiting trophies are for Bulldogs and Hogs beating off about Byrne or Petrino. Or Ole Miss fans a few years ago beating off about Orgeron.

Mississippi State currently has 16 commits with a 3.31 average star rating, good enough to be ranked 15th in the country based off of average star rating.

Ole Miss currently has 18 commits with a 2.78 average star rating, good enough to be ranked 40th in the country.

As you can see 16<18, Ole Miss has more commits than State does at this point.

it is an easy rebuttal to get you out of this dialog. You still haven't answered what you think will change between now and Feburary on the in-state recruiting front?
