I used to sort of care at this point who had how many stars in their rating and who had so-and-so, but it just doesn't mean much. In February the picture is more clear, but even then, you never know who is going to flake out when they actually play, etc. I like to wait until February, check out the results, and then quit paying attention until kickoff.

But he's never done anything whorey. He'll be here a few years at least. He has a huge farm outside of town and his daughters love Oxford. Two of them are students here. He's not leaving after two seasons. If he does, we hire another guy with head coaching experience and success.
This is the crap that is getting on my nerves. I had a rebel fan yesterday tell me that this was a win-win for Ole Miss because if Mullen fails, Ole Miss wins and if Mullen succeeds, he will be gone and Ole Miss wins. I asked him why he thought Mullen would leave and he gave me a line about crap town, people are ignorant, poor facilities. I told him if that was the case, Nutt will be gone soon also because it is the same small town, same Mississippi people, and the facilities were the same. I got this line about how Nutt and his family love Oxford. I told him that Mullen and his wife were expecting and that a small town may appeal to them for raising a family. I then told him that due to only paying Mullen 1.2 million, we had plenty of room for raises and that thanks to Leo Seal, we had money to expand on facilities. Mullen has the avenue to get to BCS games and play in a premire conference. I really think Nutt leaves before Mullen. Nutt is looking for that major accomplisment in his career. Ole Miss has next year to do it. The bigs of the SEC will not be down for long. Face it, 8 wins in the SEC gets you Music City or Peach most years. Next year is UM's shot at the gold, after that the SEC returns to normal state. If Nutt can not get it next year, look for him to go somewhere he can. Mullen, on the other had, is a coach just beginning his career and has time to work on building something.

should be a great game and is a credit to the excellent coaching job Nutt did this year. It still doesn't change or hide the fact of what is going on for the top recruits in-state this year.

I don't expect you to believe I don't care, because you want me to care. But I just seriously don't. No offense. I understand it's all you've got right now to be excited about.

That's what you do when somebody does a good job and you try to retain them because somebody else wants them. Rumor is he was offered more by Auburn than what we gave him as a raise. He obviously likes it at Ole Miss. Not saying he wouldn't ever leave, but he has a good thing going there now.

There is nothing wrong with being excited about your recruiting. This is not an insult, but when you are losing, that is your only glimmer of hope to find positives in. We did it when Orgeron was here. I'm not saying Mullen isn't better than Orgeron. I expect him to have some success on the field. I'm just saying that no, it doesn't bother us that you are getting some recruits. But remember that every year y'all claimed Croom won a recruiting victory over Orgeron, too.

State fan's do not give a damn on what you think of our new coach. Yet this board seems to be full of Ole Miss people telling us what they think of our coach.

So recruiting is the only thing I have to be excited over, you couldn't be more wrong.

Polk out, Cohen in - If Polk could get us to Omaha two years ago, I am really excited to see what Cohen can do.

LT out, Greg Byrne in - See the last two coaching searches, and the energy that has been pulled in to the athletics is amazing, and very exciting.

Croom out, Mullen in - Young, aggressive coach that already appears to be paying dividens on the recruiting front. Major upgrade over Croom, very excited.

money is a factor. and there are others, like prestige of the program. other things about the auburn job probably make it less attractive too (read: saban). don't get your panties in a wad with me - i didn't say he's leaving. i just said don't be surprised if he does. and you can't use the fact that he was at arkansas to make the argument that he'll stay at um forever, because the situation is very different.</p>

How is saying you look forward to Thanksgiving smack? What coach wouldn't look forward to their team playing in a huge rivalry game?

Man, settle the @%$* down.

Byrne did things right, but, as Chris Rock would say, why are you creaming over him like he's an innovator when all he did was "what he's supposed ta do"?

And let me correct you: YOU definitely do give a damn what Ole Miss fans think of your new coach, but I don't believe all SPS posters are such homers. You specifically should go join your buddies in your little subsect, whispering in Mullen's ear how bad you want to beat us and then go home and cry in shame about how "un-Christian" it was of you to say "kick their ***."

Hilarious.

I only came over here to express an opinion on your HELMET (to say politely that I think your white helmets are nice-looking). I then got pulled in to the intoxicating threads on here that are like Hogville threads on Petrino. By the way, when did SPS start editing cuss words on here? When you found out Byrne was reading? Incredible.

I am defending our new coach on a Mississippi State messageboard. I am quite confident you have never seen my name make a post on NAFOOM, or any other Ole Miss messageboard.

Here we go again with Byrne doing what he is suppose to do, hasn't this been discussed enough already?

You specifically should go join your buddies in your little subsect, whispering in Mullen's ear how bad you want to beat us and then go home and cry in shame about how "un-Christian" it was of you to say "kick their ***."
Enlighten me, who are these friends you speak of? I don't have many friends, so I would certainly want to know about them.

Did someone twist your arm to come into these threads? SPS probably started editing cuss words due to sponsors, just a guess, and I am sure one of the moderators will correct me if I am wrong.

I won't delve too deeply into this statement, other than to say it's pretty clear you've got deep-seeded issues about, well, a lot of things.

yes I think we all believe that.

I hope that Gene is just as embarrassing to you and Yancy, Chuck, and company are to us.

Don't worry, he is. And was LOOKIN' FINE in his embroidered SCOUT.COM apparel last night.

Our coach was impressed according to the newspaper articles.

I know the whole sheep/shepherd metaphor is worn out and cliche these days, but there really is no other way to describe Dave Childers.

Except maybe Jim Jones.

No, I'm no troll. I came over here a couple days ago after someone posted on NAFOOM that y'all were morphing into a mini-Hogville, but moreso because someone linked a thread about the new helmet. "I won't delve too deeply into this statement, other than to say it's pretty clear you've got deep-seeded issues about, well, a lot of things." Right. Because I pointed out the deep issues of some turd whose post was on here from Gene's page. That means I myself have deep issues about a "lot of things," and all this is "clear" from what I said. Brilliant comeback.

Please point out where any of my post on here were copy and pasted from Gene's Page?

There's a thread about some 42-year-old loser who asked Mullen to kick Ole Miss' ***, and Mullen asked him not to use that kind of language.

sw what does that have to do with me? Also, there is a thread on the front page of this board concerning the new helmet, I noticed you haven't posted in it, isn't that what you came here for?

In your combing of the page, you will find it's my first post on SPS in ages.

But the actual Cotton Bowl structure is about to fall apart. Went in 2003 and it was terrible. I don't think they have done any renovations to that place in 40 years.

but if I was a Ole Miss fan, it would be worth it to watch Ole Miss and Tech play. I think it will be one of the more interesting bowl games this year.

State has been without a coach for the last two weeks, and Ole Miss has made up very little ground on in-state recruiting. You believe Ole Miss is not getting dominated in-state? Please, explain to me why you think that?

Who gives a %+@@ about in state recruiting? You can't build an SEC caliber team on Mississippi recruits, because only a handful get into school. Give me about 6 or 7 MS athletes and get the rest from out of state.
