it or not, the team ERA actually got better, a bit; form 6.82 in 2008 to 6.57 this year. Not a big jump, but then I'm surprised that there is improvement at all there. Take out the two innings where outfielders Adkins and Collins were allowed to throw a frame each, and it's a bit more better.
But here to me is a truly impressive stat: the '08 team got turned for 65 double plays in 56 games. This team only got doubled-up 36 times in 54 games despite an on-base rate 22 points better!</p>
So while being aggressive on the basepaths can bite at times, it sure does help avoid double-plays and keeps the defense on their toes.</p> </div> </td> </tr> </tbody> </table>
