You got me there. It’s a risky strategy & I'm definitely nervous about tonight. But I do think the risk/reward is worth it. “Playing it safe” is almost guaranteed to lose the regional. I think this gives us a better chance to win it.

IMO, this is a reach no matter to me how you look at it. We are starting a non-SEC weekend starter against a team seeded higher than we are in the regional. Yea, if it works Parker looks like a genius but, if it doesn't, it looks rather dumb to go into the loser's bracket this way. Northeastern is a well coached, veteran team even though its obvious they've played a very weak schedule.
This is not just a decision based on 'saving Pico'. It's also a matchup decision. I think you will find looking at the stats for their hitters that Davis (if on) is a terrible matchup for them. Like I said earlier, they literally have not seen what he pitches all year.
