That 2009 had a small bit of swagger though, but it was all because of Dixon.
the dpr used to be badass, but ever since that video came out with the roadrunners/orientation people doing it, its lost its luster BIGTIME. instructing a room full of white kids and parents from an overweight white college student with a swoop haircut really deconstructed the coolness of the dpr in my mind. at times, the dpr looked forced on the field. back in the day, it used to get everyone jacked as ****, and knowing the sec made moves to have it taken off the field and penalize it made it a bad boy kinda thing. now, its just a half-hearted throwback full of sadness. in its prime, it was a weapon....now, its a forced, tired display of uncoordinated misery. its sad how it lost its swagger, but it used to be the ****.
Goat nailed this one. It's all about the leadership on the field that makes the DPR work. If you've got a couple of guys that get into it, the whole joint will go crazy...
I'm sorry -- after 8 years of slow death with one small reprieve(2007 -- when no one really thought we were that good) -- this made me go absolutely crazy. I can't remember for sure, but I think this may have been the first moment that I truly thought "holy ****, we're back". Still gives me chill bumps right now.
It's the LEADERS on this team that have to bring this swag back... There was NO quit and NO back down in that 2009 team -- against the team that was undefeated and had won 2 of the last 3 national titles...
