1. Miss. State football is back to being as 17'ing frustrating as ever. I didnt give a **** the last 5 years, because if the administration doesnt give a **** (as evidence with their hire of Crooms), then I'm not going to either. How quickly we have bridged the gap from 2003-2009.

2. Torbush had a great plan yesterday. Our defense played as well as it could possibly play. Unfortunately, thats allowing 500 yards of offense, and thats not very damn good.

3. Yesterday's playcalling on offense just looked out of sync all day. I know we had alot of yards, but it just seemed like we couldnt get in a rhythym. It was very discouraging to see us struggle to run inside against Houston.

4. Tyson Lee- the fanbase's whipping boy. Nevermind that he has the offense producing at a pace that is one of the best in school history. He is a walk-on you 17'ing morons. You can thank Crooms for this- The gift that keeps on giving. However, on his first INT he hit the WR dead in the chest. It bounced off and was picked- can't blame him for that.

5. Zone-read- both Tyson and the RB's have to get the mesh point down and execute the play. It's not all on Lee. The backs want to run the damn ball, which is a good thing, but they are making it harder than they should for him to pull it. And when you're 5'9 and not an SEC specimen, fumbles happen. This is also known as "Spread growing pains".

6. Our WR's suck. Anybody still wanting to play Russell doesnt understand football. They can't catch Tyson Lee's passes very well, you think they are going to catch passes from Russell? Hell, they still have trouble getting lined up. You can incorporate one young, inexperienced WR into your offense. We are trying to incorporate four. I thought Hud was going to kill 87 when we had to call the TO because he couldnt get lined up correctly.
We all knew it was going to be this way (or those of us with football knowledge did). We have alot of young guys and its tough right now. Better days are ahead.

7. The fact that we are coached so damn well makes it even more frustrating. This team is playing way better than it should with the talent we have. A few jucos and another good recruiting class and we are going to be hard to deal with again.

8. I dont care if Stallworth ever plays again. Lets start rockin the deuce after Dixon and Ducre in the rotation

9. Mississippi's offense looks like it has Crooms as an advisor. LSU is pretty good on D again thanks to Chevas. But holy 17, Fla and Bammer are hell on D. I dread those two games.

10. Good times are ahead, I can see the end of the tunnel. Let's keep moving forward.

dude makes horrible decisions, time after time after time. Yes, he's physically limited. But he folds over and over. I don't see how that can be defended.

Good stuff.

I watched LSU-UF and GT-FSU yesterday. My only redeeming thought from yesterday is we must be better than I'm inclined to admit if we should have beaten GT and LSU. I know teams play to the level of their opponent, so what I saw yesterday from those teams was a lot better than what they brought to DWS. But still...

at first, I thought his bad decisions were a fluke. After three weeks, it's obviously a trend. He's an accident waiting to happen when it matters.

Wish we had another option at QB. Hopefully CDM can pull in a QB that runs this system or coach up what we have.

LSU-

pick 6 on a deflected pass- bad luck
INT on a deep pass he just cant throw
But Dixon had 2 shots at the goalline to win it and couldnt get it in

Tech-

Dixon fumbles Tech a TD
Dixon fumbles on the 2
14 point swing right there- how many did we lose by again?

Houston-

INT because WR cant catch and bounces of his chest- kills drive
Lee was 15-25, with at least 5 drops by WR's. How bought Bumphis' drive killing drop on the opener?
Lee threw a poor pass on the other INT and the fumbles on the mesh by him and the RB's hurt.

Lee isnt great, but he's no doorknob either. And he is all we got this year. And putting all the blame on him is crazy.

LSU
I know he can't throw a deep pass, particularly when he holds it for about two seconds too long, which he did -bad decision
The guy had the two easiest plays all day long on the goal line and blew them both, particularly the 4th down when he was told to pitch it and didn't pitch it and the first thing Mullen asked him when he walked back to the sideline was why didn't you pitch it. - bad decisions

GT
Dixon fumbles on the 2
On the two previous plays on the option, if Lee pitches it either time, Dixon trots into the end zone. He kept both times, sparking our section to begin the chant, "Pitch it, pitch it!" So, basically, Dixon should have never had the chance to fumble if Lee isn't a dumb *** again. I believe Lee was also in a couple of those other fumbles?

Houston-
INT because WR cant catch and bounces of his chest- kills drive
Lee was 15-25, with at least 5 drops by WR's. How bought Bumphis' drive killing drop on the opener?
Lee threw a poor pass on the other INT and the fumbles on the mesh by him and the RB's hurt.

He turned it over three times on his own merit and despite what the replay shows, he crossed the line on the pass according to the refs, when he could have either run it for a first down or throw it earlier. Like I said, he'll pick the worst option.

You can't keep giving him a free pass because he's little and a walk-on and "doing the best he can." With that logic, you can dismiss our WRs, our DBs, and whoever else sucks. I'm not putting all the blame on him, but he seems to be right in the middle of our biggest problem, which is bad **** happening to the offense at the worst times. It's time for him to nut up and quit providing large 17 ups about five times a game.

Lee sucks. The sooner you accept it the better you will feel. The fact that you have to make excuses for his ****** play after every game should tell you something.

When it gets to be a more pressure situation he is thinking too much which slows down his decision. He throws the ball about 1-2 seconds late on almost every throw. It isn't like he is putting the ball between defenders. For the most part his completions are to wide open receivers. I will say that there is an obvious reason he is a walk on. He seems to be doing the best he can. It isn't his fault we have NO Division I QBs on the roster that we aren't redshirting.

Why we quit going to him is a mystery to me. Maybe Houston started doubling him or rolling to his side but he is our best WR no two ways about it. The fumbles on the zone read plays are on Lee Coach. He has to be more decisive and confident in the decision of keep it or hand it off. You can't blame Dixon for bearing down on the ball if it is in his stomach for two steps. I think we score more than 3 points against Bama. If Sneed continues to have the melt down of a season he is having they will have a tough time winning 7 games. Sneed for Heisman, what a joke.

Our passing options should be Berry/Bumphis 1A/1B, Marcus Green 2, Dixon 3, rest of the receivers - only when WIDE open.

I fault Mullen yesterday for not running more, we were killing them on the ground and there was literally no reason to let Lee drop back.

i really think we finish this season stronger than most people.
so far i have seena team that gives up 4-5 tos a game and still finds ways to be in the game against formidable opponents. thats not the case with omany other temas that turn over that much. i think that alone shows progress. yes, it hurts to think we could have easily been 4-2 or 5-1 and possibly ranked right now and talking about what bowl we could go to. but we arent. i hope the team doesnt get too down and comes out ready to win next week. a good end to this season has to start next week. fla and bamma are losses most likely. but the rest are winnable if we can clean things up.

Relf is off the team so do you want to burn Russells redshirt halfway through a season that we wont be bowling in.

our receivers dropped some passes but I wouldn't put them w/Stump's crew/

Lee is terrible. Indecisive, stubborn, and/or arrogant-we need something different

because that's all Croom brought in and we're forced to stay with him.

And I don't think Coach is giving Lee a pass, as much as he is saying that playing him is what's best for our team in the long run.

I can't believe at this point in the season, and considering the schedule ahead, that people would want to burn Russell's RS. That's beyond stupid. Have we forgotten Omarr Conner so quickly? What would our offense in 07 have been like with a fifth year senior in Conner at the QB position? And yes, I know Croom misused him, but nonetheless, he still made plays. I hate that Jackie made Conner take a few meaningless snaps at WR of all places his true Fr. year in the middle of a 2-10 season.

1. Yeah, State football has gone from 60s bad to 80s bad. Close loses but still no wins.

2. People can talk about firing Torbush.....but I still contend he has nothing to work with. With that said though, there were a few series where we went with a 4-3....stupid. Their last series in particular.....even though the game was decided.

3. Saturday's play calling was another example of trying to be to cute at times. There should have been no reason in that game that Dixon and/or Ducre should not have been in the backfield on every play. Once again, we put the ball in Lee's hands and ask him to make a play/decision rather than just handing it to Dixon or Ducre. Ducre had 9 damn carries.........9.....for 81 yards. Again, late in the game, we were in 3rd and long and we go empty backfield and ask Lee to make a long throw. Stupid.....we were at a point in the game where we going to go on 4th down anyway. Why not a draw or option? Mullen is going to have to learn, in critical situations, to go with plays that put the ball in Dixon's hand. Just because the defense stops you one play doesn't mean they have totally stop/figured out your running game.

4. No question Croom is to blame for the QB situation. However, again...see point 3. The HC has to understand the limitations at that position and not put him into situations which require a deep throw or quick decision under heavy pressure.

5. Zone read.......yeah, now I dog cussed Lee for fumbling on that play for what seems like the 3 game in a row. But I watched FSU-GT later Saturday night......the exact thing happened in that game......QB/RB fumble the exchange on a zone read play and the defense recovers. That is going to happen from time to time on that play. But again, it requires a QB to make a quick decision. Not our QBs strength.

6. As they say, the WRs look good getting off the bus. If I am our QB, I start looking exclusively for Bumphis, Berry, and Green. I would f'n run it before throwing it in the direction of those other guys.

7. There is a lot of football coaches that would tell you that penalties and turnovers are the traits of a poorly coached team. Sure, our offense looks better than under Croom. However, ther result is still the same. We are only averaging about two offensive TDs a game and GTs and Houston's defenses are terrible. Well GTs defense may be just bad....not terrible.

8. On #2 and #3......we are going to really miss Dixon and Ducre next year. I hope one of the redshirting RBs are a lot more physical than those two.

10. Good times may be ahead but not before they get worse. The schedule gets tougher. UK, we will play close but probably find a way to screw it up. Unless Mallet is injured, Arkansas will be able to name their score. I just pray it doesn't get to 60 or 70. Bama and OM will roll up at least 40 points, it will just be a question of how many we score. I got a feeling IF......IF......if we win this weekend, we better enjoy it. Then next year we return an offense less Dixon and Ducre and a RS Freshman QB.

My addition,
11. Only at MSU can an SEC team be fielded that is owned by a GarbageUSA school. Only at MSU can the refs come in over and over again and screw us without absolutely no repercussions. Only at MSU can a f'n canon go off in the middle of a FG attempt. Only at MSU does the gigantic video board not replay a very critical play at a critical point in the game (4th and 9 penalty).

and things are headed in the right direction. Lee makes alot of bad decisions but similar to the thread last week on Zack Smith, Lee is not SEC material and I have to keep that in mind. He plays hard and tries to do too much and that leads to turnovers and bad plays. Mullen knows his stuff but he too has made some coaching errors but that is to be expected. I don't mind mistakes as much when the effort and the overall plan is there which i believe it is. We need a few more players and a little more swagger and we are going to give some people some problems.
