that coaching in the SEC - everything he did would be watched.

At Boise State, most fans don't care except for football Saturdays and possibly signing day.

We'll never know, but if that mulletfroed jorts wearing idiot had one slither of anything to do with it, Byrne needs to remove all of his credentials.

It offends me that he refers to himself as a journalist (since I have a journalism degree), but surely he is not so dumb that he would call and ask someone that question.

You really believe that? This is the same guy who didn't know what a Cover 2 was. Same guy who didn't know who Erin Andrews was. Same guy who spent all of 2003 saying we'd be better in football and that we weren't being investigated by the NCAA. Same guy that wouldn't let people say Dontae Walker weighed 260 pounds. You really think he isn't capable of making that call?

Obviously that is a joke, but didn't Gene post that according to Petersen's secretary that he is not a Scientologist. Someone posted here that he posted that, and if that is true, how can he now say that he didn't call and ask her that. How else would he have been able to post that. Was he making a joke?

The only reason I ask is because Robertson is telling people on the main page that Gene never contacted Petersen's secretary and that the call never happened, so I don't understand how Gene got that information.

Of course. He is that big of an idiot. "My premium members want to know" is all the justification Gene needs in order to wander off into asshat territory.

Having said that, I am not willing to condemn Gene off of a single accusation coming from a Boise State sheep.

But calling Petersen in order to question him about his personal beliefs is definitely right down Gene Swindoll's wheelhouse.

for the Boise Herald, then someone on Gene's behalf gave his secretary a call.

I really can't believe he did that.

I doubt this had any impact on Petersen's decision, but it definitely was a dumb decision on Gene's part.

It's one thing to be ignorant of pop culture and sports knowledge, but a whole other realm of out of touch if you wander off into religion and politics.

While he may ask about pizza toppings and movies, I have never once seen him ask a recruit or a coach how he/she feels about abortion, social security, or the war in Iraq.

Maybe he did it. I don't know. All we have to go on is the confirmation that CP is not a scientologist and Rosebowl's vehement denial that he didn't do it. I choose to take the man at his word, same as I would do for you if people posted that you said something stupid on the radio and you denied it.

Yep, he's definitely stupid enough. Besides that, he did it and posted it because I remember reading about it on here.

I have a feeling, though, that the "BSUBroncos" is just a prankster. I seriously doubt Petersen would've not taken our job based on some stupid question posed to his secretary.

seeing as how I don't know you, but if you were interviewing for a job, and you came back to the office you currently work at, and a secretary said someone called claiming to represent your new employer asking what religion you are, you're not pissed?

but the Scientology thing has been following Petersen around for awhile. I doubt its the first time his secretary has fielded that question. I guess what I'm saying is that if Petersen was that close to taking our job and some dumbass question about the rumors about him being a Scientologist was the only thing that kept him from taking the job, maybe he's a bit too sensitive to be a head coach in the SEC. I don't believe that for a second about him, so I'm leaning toward somebody on this board pranking the CL.

to turn down a $1 mil or so raise, I doubt it.

However, if Gene, or someone on his behalf, made that call he should be permanently banned from the Bryan Building and have his press credentials revoked. If I was Byrne, when this all plays out, I would absolutely want to know why Gene wrote "according to his secretary."

Pornfro should never be allowed access to anything else relating to MSU. To call BSU and even ask the question is incredibly stupid. I don't think it had an impact on Petersen's decision (God, I hope it didn't), but it was reckless and stupid nonetheless. Gene Swindoll is an abomination and should never be allowed inside Bryan again.

if I were in Byrne's position, I want to know what caused him to write that phrase. A month or so from now, I might would even call Petersen and ask if it would be cool to talk with the secretary about that call...if I were Byrne that is.</p>

This is more comparable, If you heard DS on the radio saying, "Petersen is not a scientologist, according to his secretary" and then HD says, DS never called Petersen's office wouldn't you wonder why DS said "according to his secretary." Gene is not disputing that he posted that, so he got that info from somewhere.

Regardless of whether or not this call had any factor in Petersen's decision, there was nothing good that could have come from asking. For example, I'm Southern Baptist. If I'm a football coach that's interviewing for a job at let's say BYU and I'm the coach at Troy, and someone from Oregon calls my secretary and asks if I'm Southern Baptist, one of my first thoughts would be "Why do they want to know that?" and my second thought would be "What if they have a problem with that? What would my kids have to go through at school?" and on and on. That would be enough to make me stay at lowly Troy.

It's BS like this that really pisses me off. He better thank God that he's not dealing with me because I would have his board shut down. Byrne still might shut it down to, if that is indeed the case.

The only downside would be a lot of those morons would come here to talk, but I'd rather have a guy like Petersen and a bunch of retards on here than have some crappy coach.

And as far as his "access", I think Gene has very minimal, so there's not much more to take away.
