The state of Arizona, trying to do something about illegal immigration, has been found guilty of racism and racial profiling by the media and countous organizations. Cities and towns across the United States are boycotting Arizona. United States Attorney General Eric Holder will be suing the Arizona because of this law.

What does that have to do with Mississippi ?

If you recall, the National Collegiate Athletics Association (NCAA) has boycotted the state of Mississippi because of our state flag. The NCAA strictly prohibits any pre or postseason football or basketball preseason or postseason games / tournaments from being played in Mississippi. For example, Mississippi State's basketball team was selected to host the Coaches vs. Cancer basketball tournament a few years ago. This noble event donates proceeds to cancer research. Roughly 10,000 fans at the Humphrey Coliseum would generate a lot of revenue for this cause. There was one problem.

The NCAA stepped in and told the Coaches vs. Cancer organizers that the state of Mississippi is being boycotted by the NCAA and they refused to allow one single game of this basketball tournament to be played in the state of Mississippi. The Coaches vs. Cancer organizers were not aware of this until it was way too late, so they had to settle on playing in Birmingham, Alabama instead of Starkville. The result? A dramatic reduction in fans attending, resulting in very little revenue for cancer research. Starkville suffered significant economic losses because of this.

The NCAA's cash cow, college football, hosts four Bowl Championship Series bowl games each year:

The Orange Bowl, Miami, FL
The Sugar Bowl, New Orleans, LA
The Rose Bowl, Los Angeles, CA
and
The Fiesta Bowl, Glendale, AZ

Yes, Arizona, the same state that is being boycotted by countless individuals and organizations for its new immigration laws that may lead to racial profiling, is hosting an NCAA football bowl game that generates almost $100mm in economic impact to the community and millions more to the NCAA itself. Despite this controversial immigration law, the NCAA continues to sanction and support events in the state of Arizona, no questions asked.

Why the double standard? The NCAA has chosen to interfere in state politics in Mississippi, yet they are not in Arizona. It can easily be argued that the the rebel flag may be offensive to some, it will never pull someone over based upon their skin color and possibly deport them. The state flag will never ask someone for their papers because they speak with an accent.

The state of Mississippi has suffered real damages because of the actions of the NCAA. This is where you come in - you need to file suit against the NCAA for damages suffered by the state of Mississippi because of their pick and choose policy of boycotting state politics. Mississippi lost out a great deal of economic impact with the Coaches versus Cancer basketball tournament, and the state will suffer economic damages indefinitely as event organizers will not even consider Mississippi for athletic events because of the NCAA.

Your prompt attention is appreciated.
