Meridian is a big doctor-lawyer town. This means either Rebels or Bammers. Hope we don't lose Hamp to Saban.

We NEED to start recruiting this guy quick.

Glover should be MVP of this game tonight.

The whole time i was sitting at this game i kept saying... " who is #10??? when he gets the ball he is the only player on the field who actually runs north/south"

I mean seriously... when he got the ball he had one purpose and that was to move "UP" the field.... alot of the other players i saw tonight were running east/west to much when they got the ball.... This guy played his *** off.... even if he is a white wide receiver... we need a prosser replacement anyway.

It looked like South Panola was going to march downfield on Meridian and pull it out, but Hamp slowed #4 down just long enough to get some other defensive players around him to tackle him.

Glover was a warrior tonight.

I sat right behind Hamp Glover's dad last night. Looks like one of those long-haired Hippy Ole Miss defense lawyers.

One of those big Meridian OM boosters might sic one of their daughters from Lamar Academy on him and woo him to be a Rebel.

Not only is his dad a huge State fan, he posts on this board some. Regular season ticket holders. Have seen them at almost every home game...whole family. Seems like I saw grandfolks at basketball games last year.

Is it true that Hamp is dating a girl from Lamar Academy, whose doctor dad is a big-time member of the Loyalty Foundation?

Doug Buckles family was huge State fans. Stewart Patridge's family was big State fans. yadda yadda yadda.

Tyler Russell deserved the MVP for his game last night. However, if you had a runner-up, it had to be Hamp Glover. He was getting first downs on offense, making big tackles on defense. One of the best plays I saw him make was a catch he DIDN'T make. Glover runs a "go" route. Russell heaves it up, right to the D-Back. Glover was able to get his hand on the ball and keep the D-back from making an interception.

Glover is the kind of go-to guy every team needs to complement the star players. Whether he'd make a good possession receiver, a good H-back, or maybe a rover or bandit on defense. I also heard he's done well enough on his school that he might attend Yale.

You need smart guys like this at State, if for no other reason than to raise the GPA of the football team. It'd be a shame if the Rebs or the Bammers stole him away from us.

He impressed the hell out of me in the championship game, but he's 5'10", 160 lbs. and only had 13 receptions all year before getting almost that many in the biggest game of his career. I think he may have a future in college football somewhere, but not at the Division I-A level.

His future may be as a safety in college. It's just that his football IQ is as impressive as his academic IQ. Hamp is the sort of guy who does the little things right.

Just to give you a more complete picture...

Hamp is 6' and weighs 200 pounds. In 2008, he started at WR and bandit. He was 1 of only 2 players in the 5A championship game that started both ways. He is also the TE and shifts to DE and LB on defense from time to time.

In the 2007 season, Hamp led all MHS WRs, including MSU commit Chris Smith, with 9 TDs on 40+ catches for about 700 yards. And that is while not playing WR in 2 games because he QB'ed the Cats to 2 wins throwing for 400 yards and 3 TDs. In 2008, he was moved to bandit to help the team on defense. He still started at WR but split more time with other WRs. His priority in 2008 was defense. Then he was hurt mid season and missed 4 games.

His 2008 stats were "down" but these two articles might explain why and tell a little more about him and what his priority was in 2008. ] and [url=http://www.meridianstar.com/sports/local_story_342025646.html?keyword=secondarystory]Link

He may not play D1 - that remains to be seen. But his coach, Larry Weems, recently described him as the most complete and versatile football player that he has coached in his 30 plus years of coaching.

Thanks for your kind words about his play Friday night.

Correction...the SECOND-best Larry Weems ever coached in 30 plus years. Think Hamp could've competed with my 5.4 40 speed, 12" vertical leap, and 185 lb. bench?
