Dearest Rodney,

If you had stayed at Mississippi State, you could have avoided that national embarrassment today.

Yours truly,

Coach Ray Dog

Yes, he should have stayed and been on national TV maybe 3 times all year.

Or, he could transfer and sit out a year - being on national TV 0 times all year - and then lay an egg in the first round of the NCAA tournament - on national television.

That's a terrible point. They were on every week thru the year. One bad loss doesnt just erase all the recognition he got thru the season.
He was written about more as a redshift last season than he was as a player at MSU.
Abd the amount of ingame discussion and articles discussing him this season is invaluable for his future.

I agree. You made a terrible point. I just used your same logic.

Plus, what do articles have to do with his future in the NBA? It's more for ego. Since he has these "articles" and "ingame discussion", he now becomes a lottery pick?

If he would have played on this MSU team this year, he would have put up better numbers than he did at Duke. He wouldn't have lost a year, but he wouldn't have a Duke degree.

Those articles and on screen time help boost a player's stock.
Yes, if you can play, the NBA will find you. But you can't seriously argue that more exposure and leading a dominant program in a dominant conference has no translative value to the next level.
Of course it transtes.

Why have so many Duke players been drafted thru the last 15 Yeats, even if they don't project great at the next level? It's a benefit to go there

I can and I will. Scouts don't buy the articles and they don't listen to the commentary. They watch film and they read the box score.

I'm glad you went back 15 years. Duke went through a downturn for almost a decade. They had a nice group of prospects the last couple of years because of Kyrie Irving.

But I did hear that Duke was going to be unbeatable with Hood. Just didn't turn out that way. Same hype Hood bought into when he went to Duke. BTW, people go to Duke to win first, NBA second.
