and it would also make more spots available for teams with lower payrolls. Hopefully, that would drive attendance up in those places.

And they don't have to prolong the playoffs. They could condense it.

Let's get realistic. 3 changes I would make first:

1) There should be 15 teams in each league. Not 16 in one and 14 in the other.
2) Let's go back to the old school schedule of 154 games and more daytime double headers. Historians would have no problem with that and the season could end sooner.
3) Adopt the High School rule that the batter can only take one foot out of the batter's box between pitches unless there is a swing. These game are too damn long.</p>
