Defending the pass is much harder, in my opinion, and schematics is why the West has been so dominant. With the exception of WRH, Shelby has shut down all running games in these state championship games, during this run of championships. WRH just had some great athletes in their attack last season, as will be the case this season as well.

Of course I would say defending the West pass, but listening to a Western Coach talk about preparing for eastern run attacks obviously a lot of work goes into it. Western teams advantages are they are more balanced that balance makes them more formidable. I played on a team that shutdown a Lincolnton offense that averaged 35 a game we held them to 6 but also played on a team that got killed by the run in 06 cause we focused so much on defending the pass vs Cummings.
