If they beat us we will be treated to a press conference where Pike will explain how good they are, and we lost the battle for rebounds because they were just too physical . . .

I hope we lose. Beating this team adds nothing to the resume but losing might quicken Steve’s exit.
I agree. Losing to Delaware State could hasten Pike's exit. I just noticed Delaware State is on a 2-game win streak (all bad basketball teams, sure) and just beat a team, Longwood, that beat Maine. Now granted, we beat Maine too, but I wouldn’t say we ran over them. Rutgers hasn't blown the doors off any team this year. Seems possible Delaware State could be more competitive than people are expecting. You know they will be amped up to beat a Power Four school and RU will probably be just going through the motions.

They were down 3 starters, and a 4th had just come back from an injury that kept him out over a month. They were a broken team with no size. The team was also thrown together quickly by a 1st year coach.

No they weren’t. They were missing one starter, and two reserve guys (neither of which played in the win @Stanford either).

The starter they were missing and one of those reserves just played in their home loss to Tenn St so I’m thinking it wasn’t really that and UNLV probably just a volatile team FWIW.

It’s unlikely we lose this one. Ogbole should be able to score easily even if we’re not shooting well. The rest of the schedule - who knows.

I warned you not to take too much from that unlv game given the circumstances

I’m not taking anything from it. I just don’t think it’s an accurate statement to say UNLV stunk that day because they were missing all their starters. They stunk for the same reason they stunk against Tenn State recently. They played better against Stanford and won that day. Simple as that. It doesn’t mean anything. If we keep playing like we did against SHU we won’t beat anyone else except Del State. We turned it over like 4-5 straight times to open the game. I don’t think I’ve ever seen that before at the D1 level. Even in 1-16 games in the NCAAs…

Actually - I’ll take it a step further. it’s been several years since I recall seeing anything like it even in youth BB and I watch a lot that. Maybe occasionally when my boys were in like 3rd or 4th grade? But honestly - probably not even then. There’s no defense in the back court in the younger grades. There are a lot of weak AAU coaches but if the same kid got his pocket picked walking the ball up on back to back possessions Im pretty sure even there it would either be a different kid bringing it up after that or - that kid would at least get a screen. Words cannot even describe what a bad look that was for the coaching staff to let that happen.
