Looks like Coach may have been right on this one. Either he or Quay must be suspended.

Oh, and it looks as if Siddoway may have overtaken Robinson at RT.

Also missing from the chart - Nick James *****.

Also noticed Nick Griffin in at the #2 RB spot. Was curious about who they would put there.

James may still play. He wasn't going to be in the top four.

I think we have to play James. Not convinced he will last if he has to sit out this year.

It seems weird Broomfield and Hughes are at SS and Nickoe and Arrington are at FS. You would think it would reversed. Broomfield at SS scares me.

James is a beast. One problem tho... He is only a beast for two plays. I'm told by someone who is with them every day that he is seriously out of shape but slowly getting there.

^^This^^ Only been working out with the team for a bit. Give it time. Quay looks like a different person since he arrived and Nick will too in time

Broomfield is very good at making tackles in the open field hehas good closing speed and tackles very low. However, Nickoe will take your damn head off, which is why I like this move.

Picked up the Ledger to get my high school scores this morning & saw in there where Morrow is NOT on it either? Is that true? And if so, why?

This thread makes me understand the need for anti depressants

People, please stop this ignorance. The depth chart is only the two deep, and not a roster. Therefore, if a young guy isn't on it, it doesn't mean that something is wrong. We have and experience at many positions, and Mullen isn't going to promote a young guy over an experienced player until he proves it in a game. Please for the sake of sanity stop trying to figure this out. If the depth chart was a 5 deep, then perhaps there would be concern if certain guys weren't on it, but it is not. Its only a TWO deep depth chart and means very very little. Mullen doesn't buy into hype and makes players EARN their spots. Please understand this for the sake of not acting like the most ignorant fan base in the country.

When I suggested the move for Broomfield in the spring I was told repeatedly that he is a very poor tackler. I still like the move since it lets us go Banks, Slay, Whitley and Broomfield all out there at the same time.

This one baffles me. We have the most experience receiving corps in the SEC and you are really asking why a redshirt freshman isn't on the 2 deep? Really? If he was I would be worried as all hell! Morrow will play, he will get his shots, but we are looking for people who will run their routes and make plays not someone who looks really good at "go deep and catch it". He is going to be a good one for us but he is still just a a Freshman!

In case you missed it last year, our "most experienced receiving corps" was basically average at best, with a sprinkle of terrible in stretches. We better hope Morrow and Tubby force themselves into big roles this year, particularly with M. Johnson out. That said, I dont think the sky is falling because he wasnt listed in the 2-deep. He will have plenty of PT in the JSU game.

I understand why everyone seems to have an affinity for the seniors, they show flashes of very solid play. However, it is obvious that none of them are gamebreakers. Arceto has great hands and body control but he is either undersized or too slow for the position he plays. Chris Smith is a possession receiver at best thus far. Bumphis has the ability, but hasnt put it together. Heavens apparently doesnt bring enough to the table to get regular looks or touches. Basically, all 4 of those guys would be great complimentary players if we had a true go-to threat.

Honestly, the only receiver I saw during a game last year that looked like he could beat defenses was Robert Johnson, but apparently we cant teach him anything more than the WR screen.

We essentially have to see Bumphis put it all together and an emergence from Morrow and Tubby to see any appreciable improvement in the passing game this year. Although they are solid players, I dont think we can get any more out of Smith, Clark, Heavens or R. Sanders - they are playing at their ceiling.

Coaches seem to care more about the receivers ability to block and run routes, while the average fan simply looks at the receiver position as the ability to catch the ball.

Azzurri, I agree we don't have many game breakers out there, but if you don't consider a terrible throwing quarterback and o-line as part of the problem last year, then you are way off. None of WRs could get any better, but with the addition of Russell being the full-time starter, with the offense designed around him, and a, hopefully, better o-line our receiving core could be much much better. I truly believe that Mega-tron and Wes Welker would have struggled in our offense last year. WRs always look covered when the QB doesn't get rid of the ball when he supposed to.

Come on man, you are having some selective memory I think. There were a lot of drops. There was very little, if any, separation against SEC teams.

Sure, we hold the ball too long sometimes, but arent we talking chicken and egg here? I mean, do we continue to hold it if our WRs are open? Seems to me like we hold it because they aren't. Our QBs were forced to be sharpshooters in SEC competition. I know there were other problems with the offense, including our play selection, OL and personnel decisions, but the WR group was at least problem 1B last year behind the OL.

Azzuri's right on this one. When he said our senior receivers have been average at best, he was being kind. None of them should be one of the top 2 receivers on an SEC team. We've been hearing good things about the 2nd and 3rd year guys. We really need some of them to step up for us this fall.
