said we would be in the "chillin at home" bowl and that Ole Miss was going to the Cotton Bowl.

Hey Derek, two things: 1) You were a long snapper which is one step up from the 2nd string water boy, shut up 2)You talk like Bryant Gumble but you are on CSS and as a matter of fact you both are weird nerds.

And why should anyone be upset about that comment? He is just voicing an opinion.

Man. I wouldn't think even Rebel fans would be that delusional at this point.

If we win out, that's our likely destination, because I think the Cap One would still take a 9-3 LSU team.

Fall back to 8-4, and we're probably dropping back some, maybe to a Music City Bowl because I don't think the Peach would take us. 7-5, and we're either Liberty or Independence Bowl bound depending on the shake out of the rest of the league.

We obviously have a lot of work to do to get in the realm of a Cotton Bowl, but all 3 games we have left are winnable. Our chances of winning all of them are probably about the same as our chances of losing all 3 though.

If Auburn wins this weekend they will finish with at least 8 wins. Auburn trumps Ole Miss in bowl selection.

Someone should inform this 17stick that if we had Memphis and UAB in lieu of Houston and GA Tech we would have a shot at the Cotton Bowl as well. The only reason Ole Miss is sitting at 6-3 is because they play 4 OOC teams that Madison Central could probably beat this year.

I'm assuming Auburn wins this weekend and loses to Bama to go 8-4. If we go 9-3 (5-3), it'll be hard for a bowl to select an 8-4 (4-4) team ahead of us. That's just my gut feeling.

Either way, as I've said before, I think we go 8-4 or 7-5, and we likely end up in the Music City or Liberty depending on the rest of the shake out. If we go 9-3 though, I'm pretty confident we'd end up at least in the Cotton.

Let's say we do somehow win out to go 9-3 (5-3) though I think it's a long shot. Then let's say Auburn is 8-4 (4-4) with a loss to Bama. I'll throw in LSU at 9-3 (5-3) assuming they beat Arkansas along with the loss to us.

In this scenario, Tennessee would have a loss to us to put them at 7-5 (4-4) at best. Let's say Arkansas beats MSU but we already have them losing to LSU, and they are 7-5 (3-5). South Carolina will be at best 7-5 (3-5) assuming a loss to Florida. We have Georgia losing to Auburn, so best case scenario would be for them to be 7-5 (4-4), possibly even 6-6 (4-4) after Tech takes care of them. We have Kentucky losing to UGA and UT, so they would be 6-6 (2-6).

And under this scenario, Florida and Bama both win out and MSU and Vandy are both unable to go bowling.

Florida and Bama take the BCS Title and Sugar Bowl slots.

The next 3 bowls are the Capital One and then the Cotton/Outback which share a selection. Under this scenario, LSU, Auburn, and Ole Miss would split those 3 bowls, and I would expect it would be LSU to the Capital One, Auburn to the Outback, and Ole Miss to the Cotton, though you could flip us and Auburn.

Again, I don't think that's the way it will play out, but if we win out, we'll be in the Cotton, Capital One, or Outback Bowl. I can't see any likely scenario that would include us missing out on one of those 3 bowls if we were to win out and go 9-3.

UM is playing 12 games this (regular) season and their record will reflect all 12 games. The ONLY way the 2nd I-AA game could have cost them would be if they finish 6-6.</p>

"Cotton/Outback which share a selection."

How does this work? Taking your hypothetical further, let's say the Cotton Bowl would prefer Auburn despite the worse record since it would be Ole Miss' second straight trip and one that many of their fans would be disappointed in. And let's say the Outback Bowl would also prefer Auburn because they would have more fans in reasonable driving distance (I'm not saying I think either of these statements are true, but something similar could easily happen in any other year). Who wins out? Does the conference decide?
