Nike only owns the rights to the one specific logo we used during the Sherrill years. We used other slightly different logos throughout the 1980's and one with just the MS and not the U during the 1970's. We could go back to one of those logos, which we still own the rights to, or design a new interlocking MSU logo and there would be nothing Nike could do about it. We didn't drop the interlocking MSU logo because Nike had the rights to it, we dropped it because Templeton wanted to use the M-State logo for everything and he used Nike having the rights to that one logo as an excuse.
