Any old man who never went through this as a young man is a liar, an idiot, or an uncommonly lucky SOB. I hope Devonta overcomes his disappointment and has a great college and pro career. I hope he chooses to inhabit the beautiful and unequaled Mississippi State campus. He will be heartily welcomed there, should he choose to join us.

so, Pollard can come play with us, or go elsewhere.

Ray will be the head coach, and I'm not going to bank our future on ONE player, that has never set foot on our campus as a student.
Good luck to him, but he ain't going to run our program.

Having said that, Ray may have a bad time for a year or two, but in the mean time the asylum is empty.

If you expect greatness next year, go get your head checked.

Pollard would be a huge addition and great player at MSU, but he ain't even on the radar screen as a player to force a program to conform to and change itself. I hope Ray can talk to him and get him aboard. There is still that chance there. If not, oh well. We have much bigger, longer-term issues than just Pollard.

last time I checked, NO ONE on this board has said anything other than "next year will be a rebuilding year," yet they are insistently pushing the notion that the only thing we should look for in this hire is whether or not we land Pollard. I'm ok with a rebuilding year next year. The cupboard was bare when Mullen got here, same is true for Ray. The hires seem almost similar from the standpoint they were both assistants at fairly big programs in their respective sports, but the attitude between these two hires. entirely different. Both coaches are very knowledgeable of the Xs and Os and both seem to be very disciplined and demand effort every game. Give the guy a chance... damn.
