This is a link to the Asheville Combine. The players are selected by the Shrine Bowl position coaches based on their combine results/numbers, the eye test, and film. There are several combines across the entire state. The kids with the best numbers make it to a final few and then the eye test and film narrow it down to those selected. Only a handful of SMC kids went to the combines, and their numbers just do not put them in the top few kids in their respective positions this year. I would love to see SMC kids in the Shrine Bowl, because they would bring an edge of toughness to the game, but I can understand by the numbers why they didn't make it to the final selection. The SMC needs to get more kids to go to the combines, and they need to score better when they get there.
