Did Banks mess up by not going pro this year?

It seemed that it was not a CB rich draft. I may be wrong but I would take Banks over Dre just because of his frame.

Overall it wasn't a great CB draft, but I could think of 4 other CBs just in the SEC that would be on his level or better that came out this year. Morris Claiborne, Dre Kirkpatrick, Stephon Gilmore, and Casey Hayward are all on Jonathan Banks' level to scouts. If Jonathan Banks just keeps up his play and does as well as he did last year, he could be a potential first rounder and first CB taken. I am pretty sure Kiper or someone has already ranked returning players and he was ranked first returning DB/CB.

I believe he was graded at 4th round, but I think he would have gone at some point in the second round this year. When we have guys that are considered on the same level as other players from more prestigious schools, the other guy is gonna get drafted first most of the time.

I fully believe that he made a good decision and will go higher next year than he would have this year if he does not get hurt or regress.

He really needs another year to get bigger stronger and faster. He was awfully thin coming out of HS. His combine numbers just weren't going to help him this year. If he can work on his 40 time and get it down and get a little stronger & quicker, he could really help his stock. This year, he was not a 1st or 2nd rounder would have still been there late in the third.. Next year? maybe not a 1st rounder unless he just blows it up this year but he can get into the 2nd round maybe even the early 2nd.

Still, it's a risky thing staying in school. I just know it was a good decision for us. Dude can ball and just makes plays, Mullen really leans on him for a lot.
