that a win this weekend would put us in the Top 10? Said people are just looking for a reason to explode over Mississippi State.

yes....yes he did. something to the effect of : (on msu being in the top 10), "oh yes....sure...you are winning in the toughest places in all of sports to win...you better believe it"

we need to jump on LSU fast and hard to take the crowd out.

I think a win would move us no higher than 13 with 15 or 16 being most likely.

I do not care about rankings. Is it nice? Sure. Does it mean anything? No. Just win games and rankings (and perception, which is really all rankings are) will follow.

I just assume be under the radar and embrace the "no respect" concept. I hope it pisses us off and we take the mentality of kicking someone's door in and burning their damn house down.

Let's not leave the "kicking the door in" to our kickers. They will most certainly miss the door and kick the damn wall.

Yep, there's not much short of beating the #1 team in the country that will cause you to jump more than 10 spots. I'll be delighted with a #15 ranking if we can somehow win this weekend.

What's funny about this is if we beat LSU and are ranked #15, Ole Miss would still be ranked ahead of us.

For comparison here is who each team would have beaten in it's last 6 games.

MSU - Ole Miss, LSU, Rice, USM, UAB, & USA

Ole Miss - Wake Forest, Boise, Vandy, & ULL

Does that seem right?

Rankings don't matter now but they matter in December when bowl selections are made. If we beat LSU we'll obviously be ranked... But it'll be for nothing if we lose to UK, Arkansas, and a couple others. That's not out of the realm of possibility.

Need to be focused on this game. The big picture will shape itself no matter what we think or feel.

I think you're almost certainly right, but I do think we have a chance of getting a bigger bump than normal. LSU would be one of the few top ten teams that have been tested. It would be a night win in Red Stick. Our team looks the part physically so if voters just see the highlights, we will pass the 'eye test' handily. There are media members ready to hype us if we prove anything, and they will also be able to throw out the fact that we didn't lose to a team outside the top 18 last year. Some teams in the top 15 simply don't make sense. That all depends on voters actually taking their job as voters seriously enough to at least pay attention to the college football recap shows, which I'm guessing most of them don't. But that's still enough that we could move more than you'd expect.

Are you the same guy from ED?

If so, let it go man. It will all work itself out in a couple of weeks.

Broken record n ****.

Georgia's ranked ahead of South Carolina this week. Does that seem right? The rankings for MSU and UM are all about preseason perception right now since neither one of us has really played anybody yet. By the end of the season, it will work itself out.

I don't care if it seems right or not. All I care about is if we win as many games as possible. When we get to Oxford I want to win there too.

If we find a way to beat LSU, the last thing on my mind will be OM.

We beat GA Tech, not Wake Forest, although I don't think it detracts from your point.

Also, and I hope I'm not out of line offering advice to the master, but you've been overplaying your hand lately, laying it on a bit too thick, in my humble opinion. Might want to dial it back a hair, that's all I'm saying. Maybe post something every once in a while that's not about TSUN. I'm a big fan of your work and don't want to see you get burned.

Exactly. And if we beat LSU, I'll probably have to check the paper the next morning to see what the score was, because I won't remember ****.
