We then promptly suffered the most lopsided loss in SEC Championship Game history followed by a bowl loss in the Chic-fil-a bowl.We stand alone as the only 3-loss team to make it to the SECCG.

Why do you tease them? When I think about that year, I tend to remember the 11 point win over top-25 UGA, the 14 point win over #1 Alabama, the 22 point win over top-25 Florida, the 14 point win over Tennessee, and the 22 point win at Clemson. I'd sure take some of that nowadays.
The two years in which Missouri won the East overlapped with our 11-win run. They won the division in 2013 losing only one game in the conference, to us. We finished ranked #4 in the final AP poll that year and Mizzou finished ranked #5.Wasn't that when immediately after we showed no resistance as we gave way to newcomer Mizzou as they dominated the East the next two years in the league?
After 2008 Richt was mailing it in at UGA. He knew he could win 8 or 9 games on talent alone each season and that would keep the fans happy as long as he kept up the "good Christian man" thing. The loss to us in 2014 was one that he actually took personally and the fans really started grumbling about Richt's inexplicable losses. He paid Spurrier back in spades in 2015. That 2015 UGA game is probably what drove Spurrier to quit mid season. The two years in which Missouri won the East overlapped with our 11-win run. 2014 is when our wheels began to fall off. Somehow we still managed to beat #6 UGA that year.
psssh, Orth laid a double 6 on UGA in that game. After 2008 Richt was mailing it in at UGA. Even the first loss to Auburn was a great game. I remember one year we beat all the teams in the east division but didn't win the division.
In '11 and '12 UGA backed into the SECCG thanks to our bed pooping.Because we pooped the bed at home against Auburn in 2011 (Garcia's last game).
And then we pooped the bed against a bad UT team in 2013 to keep us out of the SECCG.
2011-2013, we beat the team that won the East.
Yeah 2022 sucked until Tennessee and Clemson, but those games changed the whole tenor of the season. That Tennessee win is arguably the best win in school history. It's definitely on the shortlist for consideration with 2010 Alabama and 2012 Georgia.I'd take that season over any recent season including 2022. 2022 was a major bummer of a season and fairly disastrous-looking until the UT game. we were pretty good all season long in 2010.

2010 was a better season overall, I'd agree.
But in 20 years, I'll still look back at 2022 and remember how shockingly unexpected that Tennessee game was and how great breaking the Clemson streak in Memorial Stadium was. I won't remember the Missouri game (even though I was there) or the Georgia beatdown or the Florida embarrassment.
If we had beaten Tennessee in 2013 we'd have won the national championship. That team would have beaten Auburn and FSU. I remember debating that for hours one night with a good friend who happened to be Noles fan.We had it all laying at our feet from 2010-2013. Could have gone to 3 out of 4 SECCGs in that span, and I bet we would have won one of them. That may have been our one chance to establish ourselves and we royally blew it.
2012 Georgia should be the best win in my opinion. UGA was clearly the better team on paper and they looked totally inept. Spurrier made Richt look like a fool. Yep, huge win. I think there are legit arguments for 2010 Bama, 2012 UGA, and 2022 UT. There's probably a few others from the past to throw into the mix, but those are the three that I saw live.2012 Georgia should be the best win in my opinion. Isn't that sort of the whole premise of the chicken curse? We won't be terrible but we'll always fall a little short, like the loss to Navy in '84 took away the chance to realistically play for a national championship. 2013 Tennessee is sort of the same thing. Tennessee went 5-7 that season and the only SEC games they won were UK and us.If we had beaten Tennessee in 2013 we'd have won the national championship. That team would have beaten Auburn and FSU. Yeah, that game against UGA was really the beginning of the end for Richt. Their loss to us in 2014 when he didn't give the ball to Gurley on our 4 really brought out the pitchforks. Most gamecock fans don't realize that while we view UGA as a big rival, probably #2 to Clemson, the vast majority of UGA fans view us about the same as they view UK, a pesky afterthought. They hated Spurrier but they didn't really hate USC. Losing to us while having superior talent made the UGA fans really question if Richt would ever get them over the hump.Yep, huge win. That 2012 Georgia team was loaded. It was a batted pass caught by Chris Conley away from getting the chance to crush Notre Dame for the national championship.
Hell, Navy went 4-6-1 in 1984 and their starting running back was hurt when they played us.I wasn't gonna be the one to say it. But how else can you explain that loss to a horrible UT team in 2013? We won @ #5 Mizzou, and handily defeated #5 Clemson.

2012 team was much better than 2010, only problem is after roasting #5 Georgia 35-7, half our team got the flu and headed to Baton Rouge only to get beaten by #9 LSU 23-21, then the following week off to #3 Florida when the entire team had the flu and got killed 44-11. We also lost to Gonzaga in the Final Four in 2017 because Sinarius and possibly others had the flu. Note to coaches! Quarantine the team next time we are in a championship type of position for a men's team! (Don't know whether to laugh or cry on this post)
The 2002 Arkansas team also made the SECCG with three losses. They also got drilled in Atlanta but not as disgracefully as we.We stand alone as the only 3-loss team to make it to the SECCG.
I don't know about winning the national championship. I do believe the Tennessee loss that year was easily the costliest of the SEC era - a complete lack of timely offense against a team we should have blown away.sigh...what might have been. UT was AWFUL that season...so bad. They finished with 5 wins, 4 of which came over Austin Peay, S. Alabama, WKU and UK (who finished the season 2-10).
