Did The Recruiter miss his window?

If you look at the SEC West, the last 5 years have been downright ******. Just a bunch of bad basketball teams. LSU has had 2 good teams, with State, and UPig having basically had 1 good basketball team the last 5 years.

The Recruiter basically missed his window to really take control of the SEC West. Now, looking forward, the West is going to get better. Some people say that we should give The Recruiter one more season because of the recruiting class he signed. We arent the only school with a good recruiting class. UPig's class is ranked 5th in the nation, ours 14th, and Bammer's is 17th. What has The Recruiter shown this season that tells you he will do a better job with his class than those other two programs will with theirs? Do we really want to chance this group of talented Freshmen being exposed to a lack of discipline and no modern strength program?

Also, what is going to be the criteria for judging whether he will do a good enough job next season to return the year after? Are we going to demand that he make the NCAA Tourney with a bunch of true freshmen? You know our schedule will be loaded with cupcakes in the OOC- do we establish some type of win total?

This is going to be a real test for Stricklin...one I hope he doesnt LT

I will give you Bama because they have impressed the hell out of me. However, LSU, Auburn, and Ole Miss still suck hard. As ****** as we are we are still ahead of those 3 teams. Arkansas may get better but they still have not shown much to make me think they are going to just leave us in the dust.

I do think with us not winning the West every year it should hasten the removal of our coach because he will have nothing to hang his hat on. With the right guy in charge we will be right back on top.

my fingers are crossed.

UPDATE (1:28 p.m.): It appears the decision rested solely with the players. Coaches did not order the players to delete their accounts, a team spokesman said. MSU athletic director Scott Stricklin said this morning he did not ask the players to delete their accounts late Wednesday night but he was aware of Johnson’s tweet. Stricklin is expected to speak with State coach Rick Stansbury today.

If Rick won't kick them in the ***, maybe Scott will.
As upset as I am about this program the last 2 years, I know higher up and more prestigious people have to be tired of this zoo type atmosphere and attendance has shown it.

I hate to see people lose there jobs, but they are not holding up their end of the bargain ...teach the kids on and off the court!

over his team is giving Stricklin much more cause for concern I'm sure than the on the court results. Anybody can have a bad season as far as Ws and Ls and be given more time to fix things but this constant soap opera (which has always been internal) now being broadcast to all that want to see through tweets, fights in the stands and continued player suspensions are creating embarrassment for the entire athletic department that I'm sure will have to be addressed in a big way.

so my suggestions for the Stans haters is to find something else to do after football. Then when either Stans turns it around or is let go in another year or two, you can jump back on the bandwagon.

This really does go way beyond just the wins and losses. I am embarrassed to go out in public with anMSU basketball shirt right now and it has nothing to do with losing basketball games. Stansbury has been successful enough to earn a mulligan under normal circumstances but the stuff going on now cannot be tolerated.

Should he "retire" at the end of the season- he will still get that 1.5-1.7 million buyout in his contract

His problem now is the team is full of malignant tumors, which is going to be what ultimately costs him his job. Another thing that hardly seems to get brought up is the fact that the SEC is not really a 'power conference' any longer in basketball. We don't have the league to pitch like we do in football. So, while all these other teams have been 'down' the last few years, I believe that works against us in recruiting...not for us.

As much as I don't like Stansbury next year could be special. Sidney and Moultrie down low with Dee running the point. Those three alone are enough to make it to the tournament. Throw in Jalen Steele and the new recruits we could have a special season.

cain't get here fast enough for some of you Doom and Gloomers. I am happy we won. I don't care about Stans one way or another but this is how I see it. We might have a 10% chance of winning the west. We have 0% chance of winning the SEC or the SEC tourney. It is obvious we will not got to the NCAA andmost likelyobvious we do not make the NIT or that 3rd place team tourney. With that said anything short of Stansbury getting caught with a teen age girl, he is not going anywhere this year. Just relax and hope for the best. Do Strickland have the nutts to fire Stansbury? Hell yeah he does but not after one really ****** season. I feel confident he will make the right decisions. If he ever go LT on us then my attitude about himwill change. I hope we win all are games from here on out. If you don't maybe you need to burn you State gear and melt down your cow bell.

And I think your acknowledgment that "this is what [may] get him fired" shows that you at least understand that he is partially to blame for that, right?

I mean, if, hypothetically, I tell you I have cancer, you would probably feel compassion for me and not blame me, right?

But what if I told you that I voluntarily walked through the Chernobyl sarcophagus naked because someone told me it would make my dick bigger? Would you feel sorry for me then?

Rick decided to walk naked through the college basketball equivalent of the Chernobyl sarcophagus which is the AAU pimp circuit.

Bost has got to be the biggest self-absorbed dubmass in the history of the planet. At best, he's still "confused" as to why he wasn't a lottery pick.

It's definitely ALL on him.

As much as I hate to say it, Stans made a deal with the debil when he signed Renardo Sidney. The guy is a cancerous, lazy *** POS and it's infected our whole team. If Rick would kick him and Ravern to the curb, he'd get my respect back, and I'd want him back for another try next season. Otherwise, he needs to go. And as much as it kills me to say that, I don't see how we'll upgrade from what we had in him. I fear for a decade of basketball, just like we just got over in football, is waiting right around the corner for us once we do decide to go in that other direction. That's about my only reasoning for giving him next season to turn it back around.

get rid of Crooms- hire a much better coach

Polk runs the baseball program in the ground- hire a better coach working to build it back

our last 2 basketball hires have been 2 of the 3 best in school history in basketball

I can see nothing but optimism for our next hire

...and I'm surprised you're even asking this. I'd say Stans has taken advantage of this "window" for the better part of the last decade. The SEC west has been generally ****** for a long time. How many times did we win the west with a .500 record or slightly better? How many times did we win the west and go to the NIT? I think, in recent memory, State has been the dominant team in the SEC West, and clearly, that's been nothing to brag about. But it's always something the Stans apologists have been quck to hang their hats on.

So far, that's not working out so well for us.

I hope to God I'm wrong, but I guess we'll all get to see what happens when and if we do decide to go in another direction.

And also, I don't compare this firing with the Croom firing. We had nowhere to go, but up after 4 seasons of winning 3 games or less...or whatever it was. Our situation to me now parallels Jackie's last few years - winningest coach we've ever had completely losing control of his team. Stans is obviously not the brightest coaching mind out there, but for the most part, he does bring in good enough talent to make us very competitive and hide his coaching abilities, or lack thereof. In basketball, it's more about the 'jimmy's and joe's', not x's and o's. We'll probably find a guy who schemes better, but will he be able to bring in the talent that Stans has (for the most part)? The realist in me says no.

Stansbury, Calipari, and Pearl does, then we wont have a problem. Basketball recruiting is just a dirty business

This was the last team that had TEAM players who knew their roles. TB, DZ, LR and Shane were great team players who trusted each other. There was not one me(hotshot) player on that team. Ever since with few exceptions, we have had selfish hot shots. You can't win with these guys. They either get moody (Kodi, Raven) or quit and want to transfer, (Delks, TH).
