he knows so much that he has been fired from three head coaching jobs and now is a B10 sports commentator.
At least three of the last 5 BCS National Championships have been won by teams that in part or whole, run the Spread in some form.

Hmmmm....

Excuse me, hewas not fired from Vandy.

Relf running the West Coast Offense- not a good idea. Relf running the spread or the flexbone- we know he fits in well with the spread, and he probably would do well in the flexbone.

But then you look at a team like Alabama when they had John Parker Wilson or Greg McElroy or Georgia with Aaron Murray- those QB's could run a WCO/pro-style offense, and I think they could run a spread offense as well like Texas Tech ran under Leach. If they ran the flexbone or spread option- again probably not a good idea.

Even if DiNardo is right- I don't think he is- I am confident that Dan could and would adjust. I've seen us run some stuff out of the I-formation and a three WR set with one running back and the QB under center before. Granted, I haven't seen it a lot- I've also seen us run the wishbone and flexbone sparingly under Dan- but enough to know that Dan isn't adamantly against any type of offense.

He works for the Big 10 Network. He's just woolin' them up because they have a hard time recruiting spread type players.

I guess this could be said about every "new" offensive philosophy that it will run its course. The pro style offense that bama runs is so bloody boring. the spread is fun to watch.

You've seen us run the flexbone and wishbone under Mullen? Do you know what those are? Hell I bet you could count the times we've been under center on one hand.<div>
</div><div>Mullen's not going to change offensive philosophies as dramatically as going from the spread to the WCO or flexbone based on what players he gets. What you're seeing now is what he's been running for 10 years, and we'll recruit players to fit that system. </div><div>
</div><div>We might make minor tweaks and emphasize more of the offense that fits certain players strengths, but we're never going to be a primary I formation under center team no matter what players we get. Chris Leak and John Brantley fit more of a pro style offense, but they were running basically the same thing Tebow and Relf are running, with just less designed QB runs (which really limits how dynamic and effective a spread offense can be). </div><div>

Not sure if we did last year or not. If we did, it wasn't as much as his first year. You're right that we're going to run the spread as long as Mullen's the coach. He'll make modifications depending on personnel, for instance he's said he expects us to be more of a passing team next year.

..a 6'4, 220 QB with a laser, rocket arm.

Lemme check the roster to see if we have one of those.

It was just a couple of plays that we ran the flexbone- it was early in the year for a couple of plays. I've also seen us run 2-3 plays out of the I with Tyler Russell at QB.

I'm not saying that Dan will change the offense from the spread to something like a pro-style offense- I'm saying that he will incorporate parts into his offense to fit the personnel.

a pure spread. Nor did UF when Chris Leak was basically a pocket passer. I'm not really agreeing w/ Dinardo though.

Probably have a little more knowledge about that term than you do of the flexbone, which is what GA Tech runs a version of. Can't recall a play that we ran that looked similar to having two wingbacks, a fullback, and a QB under center, but whatever dude.

And if we run 1.83 plays on the goaline a year out of that set I wouldn't say we "run" that offense or set really anyway.

Just saying, it sounded like you insinuated that we could completely change offensive philosophies if we had different personnel, and I don't agree. Our 09 roster with players like Dixon and Lee weren't necessarily ideal spread guys, but that's what we saw

Bumphis was one of the wingbacks and Hanrahan was the FB. Relf was under center.

It wasn't hugely successful.

Just saying it was in the playbook is all.

Bumphis got the pitch a couple of times for 8-10 yard runs- but we stopped running it after we fumbled a snap.
