6’8” combo guard shooting .414 from 3? Hmm. I’m listening.
Well good news is you most definitely won’t have to worry about it lol.I don’t want UK involved in that stuff.
If they are no rules why aren’t we landing top high school prospects??"Pate has appeared in 27 games for the Knicks’ NBAGL affiliate this season, averaging 18.0 points, 6.8 rebounds, and 4.3 assists in 34.3 minutes per contest, with a shooting line of .385/.356/.745. He spent last season with the Mexico City Capitanes after playing for the Ignite in 2023/24."
As much as I hate it, might have to do it if there are no rules against it! Can't be like Duke and their old "No OAD players: or like Dabo and his old hard line against the portal.
Good article about his situation: https://www.hoopsrumors.com/2026/01...caa-options-has-passed-on-two-way-offers.html
FIFY6'8"guyOLD MAN who can shoot the three and hasa handle GRANDCHILDREN.
Come on down.
He’s younger than the majority of our players…..FIFY
I'm only joking at the situation college sports finds itself in.He’s younger than the majority of our players…..
Maybe because they want promises Pope is unwilling to make? Pope wants his guy's to do things on both ends of the floor, irrespective of position. Lots of guys want to play certain role or position or want guarantees of shot attempts. If they are no rules why aren’t we landing top high school prospects??
Found Mitch's sock accountI don’t want UK involved in that stuff.
Ok yeah, no one contacted this dude from UK
I’m guessing he’s saying no way Pope contacted the guy. Sounds like Pope is completely against it. Or I could be way off with everything I just saidi don't get it
Might as well do it will the NCAA allows. Dont really care about the shooting numbers, we just need warm bodies at this point and guys with experience.
Pate is in a different stratosphere than the London Johnson kid on UL's roster.Might as well do it will the NCAA allows. Dont really care about the shooting numbers, we just need warm bodies at this point and guys with experience.
That tracks. Your posts make sense now lol.Not a brother, lol.
It means pope is like Barnharti don't get it
To be fair, it seems like Pope is just against any recruiting.I’m guessing he’s saying no way Pope contacted the guy. Sounds like Pope is completely against it. Or I could be way off with everything I just said
I’d take him just for the name.
Pate is actually in the running to get a 10 day contract.
Returning to college would send the message that he is giving up on the NBA.
How much would a school pay him for 10 or so games?
We've already seen with the Mensah situation at Duke that trying to lock up a player for 2 years is futile
Good on Pope… This stuff is a mockery. Glad to see him stand up against it.
He would be leaving his G-league team so no chance at a late season call upNo, it wouldn't. Playing well at UK could get him drafted.
As much as he needed and then some.
Don't need him for 2 unless he wants to stay for another.
Jelavic played for a Serbian pro team . Why should he be able to play in college and an American can’t?I watch Mark Popes's presser and he is right, if sanity does not come back to college basketball, it is in trouble.
If all these kids who jumped to the NBA only to find out they were not ready, signed contracts, played in the G League, they are pros and should not be allowed back to school.
If this continues, we are witnessing the start of the end of college basketball as we know it. It will truly turn into a sport where you play for the highest bidder each year changing teams along the way.
I’m
This reminds me of many years ago while coaching rec ball. Travel ball was just something you heard about, an oddity really. A coach stood up one night in a meeting and said we are about to see the end of recreational sports. He was right. I left the next year and had one of the earliest travel ball teams around and then it was a real dogfight winning games. Today, it is all "daddy ball" and BS coaches are selling to parents.
"You have to travel to Colorado, California, etc to get to college. Total BS. If you couldn't win your own state tournament, how in the hell do you think you are going to a tournament 500 miles away to play against the teams with D-1 players and win?
Travel ball ruined rec ball. It watered down tournaments. NIL opened a new door, one that actually spread around talent but lost control of the game while doing it. Letting players come back after signing professional contracts is not good.
That's my opinion and I'm sticking to it!
