It was certainly a statement win. If we take a look at Dinwiddie's resume thus far:

Scrimmaged a scrapy Godwin team and dominated.

Scrimmaged and beat both LC Bird and Henrico.

Went to Salem without their best player and won on the road.

Beat a 6a team in TD with 7-8 D1 ball players on it and pushed them around.

Anhialated all other opponents and still havent used their best offensive player to date. The only thing that is debateable is if Kymon is better on offense then Kavaughn.

This doesn't mean that a state championship is automatic or anything as much football is still ahead of us.

However, if you are questioning Dinwiddie's ranking or "meddle" you just don't have your eyes open or don't deserve an opinion.

DSH, I just told mbonape1 the same thing. Monacan is the real deal. Should be 1 and 2 in region B. I usually dont push the hype too much, but our defense mauled a bigger and loaded Thomas Dale team around tonight. Beat them at their own game. Yes, Dinwiddie can ground and pound.

You can say TD has two losses, but those losses are to Hermitage and Dinwiddie. I know LC Bird isnt the same LC Bird, but Dale smacked them around. We held Dale to 20 yards rushing in the second half. 126 for the game. Over 100 yards less than their average. Having Pope back gives our other linebackers the freedom to roam. Big difference.

Very proud of this one. Louisa and EV are darn good teams and we still have district games to go. Nothing is a given. Heres one for you Wahoogen! Them Country Boyz ate tonight!

I love it! Yes they did! They were hungry! I know BIG POPE was as he laid out a few TD players tonight. The hit on our sideline in the second half comes to mind. Hey guys what happened when JT ran over the guy going in for the score and got called for a personal foul? Did he say something? Anyone know anything? We are up 14 at the time. What a show THE COUNTRY BOYS put on tonight! Defense was stout to say the least!

The guy wouldnt let go of his foot after the tackle and he jerked it away. I guess they thought he was being excessive. He never kicked the guy saw it on replay in the booth. Popes hit was nasty, but Tyrees hit on the qb was wicked and clean. The guy looked like Gumby. I swear his waist pushed in 3 inches and it looked like his upper body and legs swelled. Like a balloon being squeezed in the middle. Weird to see it on camera. Vicious hit.

Thanks for clearing that up! I didnt know what happened. Yea Tyrees hit on the qb was brutal! He stuck him and the qb dropped! These kids are strong and tackle very well. I was very impressed with the defense tonight and every week I'm more and more impressed with Peety! Kid is a baller!
Peetey is playing well. Its tough to pass against Dales cover 2 defense without having a slot guy dragging the middle. Just think whats going to happen when big brother starts playing o again.

One point lost in all of this was our o lines play. Wow, they gave up one sack -1 yard the entire game. Dale averages 5.5 per game.

I believe dinwiddie and Monacan are the two best teams as well. Some matchups I would like to see just probably won't happen if they go 1/2 as expected. But never the less good football is on the horizon come playoff time

Don't count EV or Louisa out. Louisa is a tough matchup especially with their improved defense and if what you say is true about EV the its going to be fun. If Monacan beats Bird and we can get win out we will just have be at the mercy of the points system. By the way Hugenoit and PH-Ashland were both upset tonight.

I'd actually love to see Louisa/EV go at it to be honest.... I look for the playoffs to pan out like this
1. Dinwiddie
2. Monacan
3. Louisa
4. Eastern View
5. Patrick Henry
6. Huegunot
7. King George
8. Courtland

Please no. We have played Monacan two years in a row. I thoroughly like their coach, team and my man mbonape1, but I could do without facing our clone. Fludd is a very good player and win or lose i would prefer to face someone else (EV or Louisa) for a change. Heck the Country Boyz in the Jungle? Sounds like fun to me.

I'm with ya on that. just so everyone knows... going to Dinwiddie and trying to win at their place is tough. Their field is sunk into the side of a hill and they have around 5000+ fans - going wild with cowbells, horns, cannons, horses etc. I just hope we get one playoff game at home, 2 would be nice, and 3 would be real nice. We control our own destiny except for the number 1 seed discussion as Navy says it may just boil down "to the points system"

Monacan is focused on James River next week who got blasted by Manchester last night. But it is the "Henderson bowl" and a Rivalry game. But it is hard not to notice what Dinwiddie did last night. Anybody that thought Dinwiddie was slightly down from last year.... you can go ahead and abandon that thought process right now.

Deep Creek came back to beat Indian River last night and Kings Fork annihilated Namesmond River and Lafayette is still looming. LT lost to Pheobous and again had 3-4 fumbles. I know Pheobus is a quality squad but it might be tough for LT to make it out of that region. If they can cut out the sloppy play they will be right back in the discussion.

I think there are 7-8 really quality teams that have a shot at repping the east in the state championship game. O what fun on the horizon!

When you project out through the end of the season with what we know right now and barring any major upsets or injuries, Dinwiddie should be a lock for the 1 and even with a loss for Monacan (if they lose to Bird), they may already be a lock for the 2 spot. Unfortunately, both Louisa and EV will suffer for power points. Now the 3-4 slots will be a race if both EV and Louisa go undefeated. Their power point potential is very similar. Louisa's scheduling strategy of 3 teams from the same conference could pan out for them as they will assuredly get some power points out of it. EV has to rely on presently winless CC, winless Brentsville and winless Tuner Ashby. Not that I don't want to play Dinwiddie, I would prefer playing #6, then Monacan, then Dinwiddie VS playing #5 then playing Dinwiddie.

On limited viewing, I just don't get the hype on Louisa. They look like last years team but a year older. Are they having any success throwing the ball? I know they have some size, but so do all the good teams we are talking about. I would also like to play them, but I don't see that scenario playing out. Slight chance at 4 vs 5 but I doubt that will happen.

On a side note, would it be bush league of me to try and drum up some fire for Caroline, JM and KG to punch EV in the mouth. If yes then disregard, If no, then those teams have no chance against EV. EV is way better, they shouldn't even show up, blah blah.. was that too much (Im trying to get my $6 worth at one of these games)

I'm having fun of course :)

Great post EVCYC. If you want to see good games you have to schedule good teams OOD and be willing to travel once every two years. Salem and Smithfield were good ones for us. Tons of power points. Denbigh ugh! 3 plus hours to Salem this year and 1 + hours to Smithfield, 2 hours to Denbigh next year. Worth every penny.

LT had eight fumbles, which four were recovered by Phoebus. Based on their play so far I see them as a low possibility to represent A group. I see the favorite right now as Kings Fork with Deep Creek and Lafayette right behind. But...... 5 big games to go!

As far as the scheduling goes, EV had good intentions right. I mean you don't expect the battlefield to be down like they are. A schedule with JM Courtland and Chancellor on it, doesn't look all that bad. Even a KG can be a good team. You expect that to give you something. But yeah, It might be time to test the waters with maybe a Ponx or Riverbend. All that said, it just so happens this year the power points probably won't go our way.

I get it, but you are still staying close to home. I think Charlottesville, Sherando, Lafayette or another class4 team from region a would be a good choice in two years.

Agree on entire post. Louisa is a year older but less depth. I can't tell how good they are because of a weak schedule. They are doing what they are supposed to do by winning but I don't think they are going to come out of the region. I am wondering if they can get by the black knights and maybe even Monticello.
On another note my Flucos almost scored 30 last night. First time in a while we have put points up like that on a descent team.

I agree Louisa is the same team but a year older...but sometimes that is all it takes.

Even if they are only 10% better than last year that still makes them very dangerous

Just received some additional stats from last night. Dale had 121 total yards in the first half, nine in the second half for a total of 130 for the game. They came in averaging 311 yards (260 rushing, 51 passing) a game in total offense and 36 points a game. All I can say is one unreal defensive effort.
