The Army had DEW capability as far back as Gulf War I. IIRC, it was a system designed to scan for optical glass using a low power laser and then would attack the glass with higher power energy pulses that would ruin the quality of the glass (e.g. make it opaque and not useful). An additional feature was that if htere were human eyes looking through that glass (binos, rifle scopes it would blind the person.

I don't think the juice was worth the squeeze given all the negative publicity a weapon "designed to blind people" would generate. I also think that there was trepidation that if we fielded something like this then we'd let a genie out of it's bottle and we'd end up facing something similar down the road.

Our weapons systems are so much more advanced than people realize.

Anybody paying attention to how war is rapidly changing knows that new weapons systems were needed.

Trump had ALREADY secured funding for advanced weapons systems in his first term.

Remember that huge military funding bill that also built the wall?

That didn’t stop those big influencers from complaining about Trump giving Patriot missiles to Ukraine and how he was leaving our country and military bases vulnerable…..they were wrong again.

Trump “sold” our outdated weapons systems to Europe so they could give them to Ukraine.

Influencers didn’t see that coming.

They always underestimate Trump and think they’re smarter than he is.

And Trump keeps making fools of them.
