Disappointing home losses doomed this team's chances...

from making the NCAAT. Would splitting with LSU & Aub and a win over San Diego at home have gotten us in the NCAAT? I say yes.

If the "King of the SEC West" could have found a way to be better than 4-6 aGAINst the West (2-6 against teams not named Arkansas), we would at least be higher on the bubble.Oh the irony....for all the SEC West titles we have won, our failure in the West is what is doing us in this year. Two double OT game losses could have easily been wins. I believe we had the ball with chances to win both of them if I recall. Get those two and split the Auburn and Ole Miss home games and we are 12-4 with the second best record in the conference. Even with a lower RPI, I doubt we would have been overlooked at that point even with the horrific non-conference losses to San Diego and Charlotte and the almost horrific ones to Wazzu and Texas Tech.

Anybody with half a brain knew that this team would be up and down all year as young as we were. I can't believe anybody is surprised with how the season ended

because those two extra SEC wins we got didnt wash away losses to San Diego, Charlotte, Texas Tech, etc...

I certainly didn't expect to have a winning SEC record this season after losing Hansbrough, Gordon, and Rhodes. And it looks like our young team will win 20 games if we don't get beat by Georgia on Thursday. I think this sets us up very nicely going into next year to contend for the SEC West title and be back in the NCAA Tournament.

Stansbury did a great job of coaching a young team, and we made significant improvements from the beginning of the season to the end of it.

SEC tourny and we win, then Stansbury is an idiot for benching him due to practice work ethics. Some players are not good practice players but when the real game is on they bring it. I heard Charles Rhodes was an lazy practice player but that did not keep him from starting. If Stans wants to stay the coach here he had better get off his high horse and play the best players reguardless. Walter Sharpe was another example. He was a lazy SOB but also had narcopsy. And Stans wouldn't play him. Yet he is still in the NBA. All i say is just win the Damn games Bury play the players who can help us win cause 5 years from now nobody will give a damn who practiced well or not just the wins and losses.

Yes, the losses in the preseason schedule were tough but that was also when Stans was playing your young players Osby and Augustus and they weren't producing. Anybody that predicted us to win less than 20 shouldn't be complaining.

The way you crawfish out of things is amazing. Are you in politics? You expected us to do worse this year until of course until we did better then you change the expectations. You did not even think we would beat Ole Miss. I just don't get how you can call a successful career a failure because we did not win one more game in an NCAA tournament. You would trade several losing seasons for one more win. R-e-t-a-r-d-e-d.

We look at the whole season- all the good wins and bad losses

You guys look at the SEC only- because its the only thing that helps your argument.

We failed to meet my expectations OOC, we exceeded my expectations in the SEC. What hurts you guys is that the SEC was so weak this year, so naturally, it helped us do better in conference.

work ethic translates into how one plays...see the whole practice like you play or whatever. i have no idea why augustus wasn't playing early. maybe rick thought that his efforts in practice were weak and sub-par, thus translating to how he would play in games. judging from the few times i saw him play early in the year, i would think that this was correct. chuck was lazy, allegedly, early in his career and it showed with his lack of minutes (and him being a freshmens). as he became more committed, allegedly, his time increased (and contributions obviously). i believe if someone is lazy in practice and they continue to be lazy and never change, then then they will just become a distraction to the team. but if you do play these lazy players that show no effort in practice and don't produce during games, you will lose the team. just my thoughts, agree or disagree, whatever...

But if someone goes to one game all year and no practices, or never discusses it with anybody but his folks who agree with him,(Extreme, Fishwater) then he is an expert. Stans, Phil, Robert, and Marcus are a hell of alot smarter than anyone who coaches on this board.
