when you don't follow recruits on twitter? It helps State even in a very small fashion but I just can't do it.

For giggles, I go against the crowd here...
All of us would give up quite a bit of time, money, or some combination of both to win a national championship in football... but what we won't do is create a vague twitter account, follow Steve Robertson and Paul Jones, and then follow the recriuts that they re-tweet and potentially re-tweet said recruits tweet when he talks about us?
While the impact is hard to measure, I don't think doing things like this is pedophilia or creepy. What's creepy, is tweeting at these kids every night as if you've known them for a while.

I don't follow any recruits, and don't intend to. I understand it has it's place and the recruits like it, I just have no interest in doing it.

I will go (when I see they commit) and congratulate them. I tried once following a few, thinking I could add some sort of advantage for State, but these kids posts the dumbest **** that I just had to quit doing it. I also realized it doesn't really do **** for getting recruits to State.
I'll say this, too, what's the difference between following a kid on twitter and following/subscribing to a guy online that follows kids on twitter and provides you updates about their every move?
Also, to those that seem so against twitter and feel necessary to say "i'll never have it!11", to me it's more than a tool to find out what someone had for breakfast or is watching on tv. It's a source of news and information. I follow sports writers, business analyst, government agencies, etc. and get info as soon as it comes out on actual meaningful news. Trust me, if it was non-stop "hey have y'all seen the new girl episode blaaaah!" I would get rid of it.

I will never follow a high school athlete on Twitter(or any other high school kids, I would guess).
I followed 3 MSU basketball players a few years ago and had to stop because if I didnt, I knew I wouldnt be able to root for my favorite sport at MSU.
Bost just thanked God for him living. Every day. This was after he decided to declare and stay in the draft but then claim he didnt mean to stay in the draft and didnt know he missed the withdraw date.

Jamont was just...well I only understood 19.83% of what he said. That was just brutal to try and read. No idea what the 17 was going on.

Do you think the quality of the stories you read(accuracy, depth, etc) has been comprimised in the name of instant access?
Genuine question as I dont use Twitter anymore and didnt use it for news when it was active.
Everything does that to Bracky. I am sure if he had his way there would be no bumper stickers or window clings with the MSU logo on it because there might be an unfair recruiting advaantage in his mind. I am sure the only way he could almost sleep at night would be if we painted our entire school black and white and the sign leading onto campus just said "University" on it, Davis Wade just became "Stadium", Dudy Noble was "Field" and the Hump just became "Court".

Twitter I like and use daily, can be real informative if you follow the folks/topics that interest you. As for recruiting, I don't even care to hear a 'cruits name till he's ready to suit up and hit the field and even then I have no desire whatsoever to follow them as players. Am I or you a bad fan for that, no, I don't think they give a rats arse if a bunch of grads follow them or not. I would think it weird if I was a player and a bunch of old farts had nothing better to do than creep around in my life.

Well I will admit I followed three of our long term commits for the first
time this year. I rarely interact with them just read what they are tweeting and I must say 90% of it is incomprehensible to me so I don't see much harm in it other than an waste of time. I abhor the tweeters ours and other schools that fawn over and make ridiculous statements in an attempt to sway a kid, its just wrong.

If y'all don't think it makes a difference, then keep being too cool for school. The "love" these recruits get from fans on twitter makes a difference. Jalen Hurd, one of the top RB's in the country, was on a local radio show here in Nashville a month or so ago & it was one of the very first things he mentioned....something to the effect when he was recruiting another player to UT, he told this other recruit "commit to the Vols & see how many new followers you get".
Now, I do think it's kind of stupid & I don't ever tweet these players to have a conversation, but what harm does it do to give a simple follow? The too cool for school crowd needs to get over themselves & help our coaches recruit. This is the name of the game now. There is nothing "creepy" about it either. Every other school is doing it, so why not try & help MState by clicking a button one simple time?
