Dish network has reached a deal with SEC Network. Also gets WatchESPN access.

No - still waiting on Time Warner, Comcast, and DirecTV to sign up to get SEC Network. I think Dish and Uverse are the two national carriers that have agreed to show the SEC Network. I am sure once Comcast signs on for the TV portion, it would accompany the WatchESPN portion as well.

I have directv and comcast internet. I kept basic cable channel 2-12 with comcast because the internet was cheaper with basic cable than internet only. Comcast jacked up their price and it was no longer cheaper to keep basic cable. I dropped basic cable and lost access to ESPN3 because I no longer was a basic cable subscriber.

Directv is supposed to be negotiating access to ESPN3 for their customers along with the new deal for ESPN, ABC, & SEC Network.

I predict Dish Network is going to have more new subscribers than it can handle in August if Comcast, Time Warner and Cox think that playing the brinksmanship game with the SECN is going to work out good for them.

I agree. SECN will be a pretty significant part of the football weekend if they're showing 3 live games per week (the promo said 45 SEC football games). The network has a lot of potential- I'm pretty excited it will be available on Dish, I just hope I don't have to upgrade to the Megabuxx package to get it.

If the SECN is only on Dish, it's a failure. I can't see them going into the season without TW, Cox, Comcast and DirectTV. Aren't some of the games still going to be on ESPN3 anyway? The SECNetwork will show 45 games per year apparently.

There's no doubt the SECN is going to be on all the major carriers. The only question is when. One very common tactic for both the carriers and the content providers is to play brinksmanship before coming to a deal. Often, that means that a channel winds up not being carried for a few days or weeks before one side finally caves in. If Comcast, Time Warner, etc. think that game will work this time, they're going to start hemorrhaging customers about the first of August. Because a lot of the best games, especially early in the season, will be on SECN instead of ESPN or ESPN2.

FWIW I emailed DirecTV about SEC Network when it was first announced they were not planning on carrying and they responded saying that they had no plans to pick it up. I emailed them again yesterday and mentioned switching to Dish and they quickly responded saying that they were "working on a resolution." Probably doesn't mean anything but I thought I would share.

I also have Dish and am pleasantly surprised by this. I've gotten by over the years without CSS but I was not going to be without the SEC Network.

Comcast/xfinity is the largest cable entity in the solar system. There is no way the don't pick it up.

This is obviously a ploy by Dish to get new subscribers. I think in the end everyone will carry it but Dish and UVerse profit now by keeping or subscribing customers that don't want to be left out.

The good thing about comcast/xfinity is that they won't charge extra for it up front. Every few years they will announce new channels in their line-up and you will see a small bump in your bill. Probably will happen next year as they just had to go through getting all of us to upgrade our cable modems for better wi-fi access. I think Dish subscribers will end up having to pay extra up front for it. My dad is a Dish subscriber and I honestly can't figure his bill out
