Dissappointed in recruiting so far

I don't know about you fellas, but I'm dissappointment with our recruiting thus far. Maybe my expectations are not realistic but here are few of my complaints:

1 - Inability get good players outside of MS. Chisholm from Florida has been implicated in a robbery and appears to have made up his offer list (see Ok St.). Sounds like a nutt job. I'm not sold on Neal...looks slow. The alabama boys look be in the rough where diamonds are no where to be found. If Mullen has any FL connections, well they aren't doing squat.

2 - Inability to win head to head battles with any SEC or BCS conference school ...yet. However, we are dominating the UAB's and Southern Miss's of the world. Nice if were in CUSA.

3 - No early season push or major commitments (I'm talking about highly rated players). Eulls is about it. Lost Hearst to UNC (wft). Couldn't get any HS QB's to commit (Nance, Burnetti, Broadway). Good to know we are stacked at RB/ATH type players, but can they play OG?

4 - Very few visits scheduled during the season. No big deal but we better not leave any on the table come Feb.

5 - We are not dominating MS as of yet. The best players have yet to commit to us.

1) Chishom did have a few commitable BCS offers, and by all accounts the legal trouble he got into was no big deal and has been resolved.

2) Mullen is primarily concentrating on Mississippi this year. Ferlando Bohanna and Neal are good out of state gets though.

3) Neal is really good. Supposedly Georgia might offer him, and Fla St already has. He ran a 4.49 at a Scout combine this summer so he isn't "slow" by any means.

4) It is hard to get big-time recruits to commit early, much less to an unproven coach who was taking over a program that was coming off of a terrible year. Hurst is going to UNC because Nelson transferred there, Brunetti is still somewhat in play, and we never pressured Nance for a commitment. Brunetti has been our #1 QB reruit from the get go. Broadway didn't commit because we wouldn't have accepted his commitment. He can't throw the ball.

5) We aren't looking to sign more than one OG this year. We have Tobias, Gabe Jackson, Hardy, Melichar, and Saulsberry already. We are going to sign two or three more OL this year.

6) Most recruits don't take their official visits until late in the year. We won't leave any on the table.

7) You have no 17ing clue what you are talking about. Don't post about something you know nothing about.

First of all, we are in the beginning of December, so recruiting is no where near the end. I do realize the top tier schools have almost finished up their recruiting but there are still quality players out there and we are not a top tier school.
1. Even though Mullen has ties in Florida, he is still competing with Florida, Fl St., and Miami. And that still doesn't include South Florida, who is on the rise.
2. You are right one this one.
3. Hearst was only coming if his brother was still here, who is not and is at UNC (go figure). For the Qb's, Brunetti is still a shot, maybe a long one, but still a shot. We obviously didnt want Broadway, and even Rosebowl himself said Broadway wasn't too good( you will see his ranking drop even more by the end).
4. Answered your own question
5. You cant complain about dominating MS when Ole Miss is going to the Cotton Bowl for the 2nd straight year and with Fedora being a new coach also in MS. However, Mullen is still holding his own in MS and will still get the majority of best MS players this year.

Point is, you haven't nothing to be complaining about, atleast YET.

I will address some of your concerns.
I'm not sold on Neal...looks slow.
Neal ran a 4.49 at a Scout Combine. That's not his HS coach with a stopwatch time. He also has an offer from Florida State. I'll take him

Lost Hearst to UNC (wft).
First of all, it's Hurst. Did you really expect us to sign Hurst after his brother left our program? This isn't a local kid. He's from Indiana.

Very few visits scheduled during the season.
We've brought in a ton of player's for unofficial visits. A ton. Official visits are usually saved for after the season. Our big weekends are Jan. 15 and Jan. 22.

We are not dominating MS as of yet. The best players have yet to commit to us.
I'll buy this as of right now although I really like Eulls, Carr, and Giles. It's best to wait until Feb though. What will you think of our class if we sign Newton, Sanders, Johnson, Thompson, Griffin, Wells and Robinson? Most reports say we lead or are at least 50/50 with all of those guys.

Wait until Feb. to complain.

We'll probably get some commitments in Dec. around the JUCO deadline, and then we'll get some commitments from high school guys in Jan. when we have our annual "big recruiting weekend" like we do every single year.

Mullen is also not dumb, he knows our best chance to get big name players right now is from our own state. . we have alot better chance getting a four star recruit from mississippi then going into florida and trying to take a kid who has offers from florida, bama, and lsu. recruting takes years to improve your rankinga great deal unless you start winning alot very quickly. or you sign a bunch of non qualifiers to boost your ranking. Its stupid for us to throw all our attention to 4 and 5 star players several states away when we have little to no chance of getting them when that will cost you the good players in your own backyard. I do think in a year or two we will be able to go into states and pull kids away like jackie did in is prime.

I really like the splash we made with recruits last year taking their visits during basketball season, walking them thru the student section at the Hump and etc.

is that we ONLY got the older Hurst kid because of his Dad's relationship with Croom. I'm sure Daddy Hurst was quite pissed at us for showing his old buddy the door so after that there was probably a less than zero chance that we were going to sign any more of his kids. I wasn't surprised at all when Nelson Hurst transferred.
