Dixon was getting held like a mother on that safety

Noticed that too...still no call....that's two pretty bad missed holding calls in the last 2 minutes.

No crap.

Missed the hold on Crabtree and missed the offsides on the two point conversion too.

I'm not a fan of the "don't call anything in the last two minutes" mentality, but that's probably just the nerd in me. A touchdown in the first quarter is worth just as much as one scored at the end. Why change the way you call the game?

No, because you don't blow the play dead for a holding penalty

The play would've gone to its conclusion and the time would have still come off the clock. There would've been only 4 seconds on the clock regardless of whether they threw the flag or not.

The difference is about 5 or 6 seconds.

Well, if the question had been "Why not hold?' then I would agree. But "What's the difference" implies that holding had no outcome on the play. It did. It allowed an additional 5 or 6 seconds to run off the clock. That's the difference in holding vs. not holding.

If he doesnt hold then Dixon could have pressured sooner

And hence ending the play sooner

Edit to add: Since it wouldnt blow the play dead I would have told the entire team to hold

And they were told that by the coaches. You can look that several other players were being held. Very smart move on the coaches' part.

I don't blame Crabtree for pushing the guy off when he had a hand full of his jersey.

However, in the end, the Niners have themselves to blame. The first Raven TD came after an offsides call on San Fran negated a failed 3rd down play. Then in the 4th quarter Culliver got a pass interference on 3rd down which led to a Raven FG.

You just can't make those mistakes in a game of that magnitude.

Brilliant move by the Ravens

Holding there was a very intelligent move on their part. They should have even taken it further and just tackled every 49er defender and sat on them. The penalty would have been the same as the result of the play and it bought them crucial extra time to ice the cake. If they don't run that time, the 49ers would have had time to throw up a prayer and their QB has the arm to reach the endzone.

You also can't keep waiting until the other team has a big lead to start playing every week or it will catch up to you.
