I don't know what it is about basketball that makes middle aged white men think they have ALL the answers. If this had happened in ANY other sport, the folks here would be supporting the coach and his decisions. But in basketball, everything is questioned.

Stansbury should have told DJ on the front end thathe probably would not start so he could have picked another school overMSU during his recruitment.

Signed,
Dan Mullen

get rid of him today and he can still enroll somewhere. Mull it over a few days and the kid is screwed.

But that's lost on you.

But its just the simple fact that The Recruiter is having to do this in the 2nd week of school is not lost on anyone

it is a freaking embarassment. Every single person on here ridicules hooty dale for **** that happens up there, and stans has had the same issues for as long as nutt has. Good grief how folks can make excuses for this **** every damn year is beyond me. After the hawaii deal i thought that would be done with. Nope, some folks continue to kiss that ***. Luckily stricklin aint one of them. Stans *** will be gone if he doesnt advance to the 2nd wknd. I have had it with the embarassment that his program is causing our school.

Also, stans is a middle aged white man...

I'm not saying anything about cutting him loose- thats fine if he thought that was the right thing to do. I'm glad to see The Recruiter showing some nutsack and taking control...

It's just that fact that in the last month:

1. Our basketball team has had to leave one of it's top players off of a team-building trip to Europe

2. Kicked a 4-star recruit off the team

It's mf'ing AUGUST, and our basketball team has had more turmoil than most teams experience in 1-2 seasons.

He's not a "kid" if he can join the Army, vote, and buy a pack of cigs. And he's not "good" if he talks about b--ches and getting 17'd over on Twitter. <div>

Where the hell did I make an excuse for Stansbury?

We all freaked out when Singleton and Johnson did not come to MSU because Mullen wouldn't kiss their *** andmake ridiculous promises. Now we freak out because Stansbury DID make promises to get a kid on campus. **** works both ways.

Sidneyfighting in Hawaii and Stansbury's handling of it was embarrassing. How exactly is this "embarrassing"?

And I'm not making excuses. Hawaii was embarrassing. But come on.

This is about a kid that thinks he's the next Lebron (like 90% of every college player these days) and thinks he should start and play 40 mintues a game as a true freshman And because he will not, he starts acting like a spoiled brat and burning every bridge in his path. That's the **** that's getting old to me.

And I love your example. Yep, everybody is in agreement that Nutt should be fired at ole miss. Oh wait......

How is Gardner leaving any different than LSU having THREE guys transfer "before the second week of school"? This board would melt down if we had three guys transfer right now and you know it.

Stansbury was too lenient the last few years on Ravern, Bost, Kodi, etc. so I damn sure ain't gonna criticize him when he did something right.</p>

DJ is just another in a LOOONNNNGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGG list of this ****. It is a never ending circle jerk cluster f'n dumpster fire. Every single year it is the same ****. The **** in hawaii was the last straw for me. That on top of the lacking success in the tourney has done it for me. I have just been tired of the excuses and bs for 7 or 8 years now it is flat embarrassing.

As for nutt, the point was is he always has **** going on every single year since he started at arkansas. He is known nationwide as a "nut", a heppa, a qb killer, etc....Same as stains is looked at as a terrible floor coach, a joke, a "recruiter", etc...

I just dont see how anybody can give him or his program the benefit of the doubt after the hawaii ****.

So what would you have had Stansbury do differently in this case? Be blunt and tell Gardner that he will be third string and then watchhim go to Ole Miss? Let Gardner come back afterhis outburst and lose even more respect of the team?

All I am saying is that there are a million things to rip Stansbury over but this isn't one of them.Having a kid leave because he did not want to be third string is not embarrassing. Two fat guys in wife beaters punching each other in Hawaii on national television...now that is embarrassing.

The program is in trouble for one reason in my opinion....

and that is...everyone has pretty much decided about Stans one way or the other. Kinda like Obama now. You're either for him and gonna cut him some slack even if he is caught having man-love with the players or you hate him and wouldn't give him any props if he won the national championship and cured cancer.

That to me is the biggest obstacle he has to overcome. You guys freak out about all the people who've left our team, but that's because it's our team and the one you read about and focus on. This **** is going on all over the country. Stans has made some boneheaded decisions, but this to me isn't one of them. Richard Williams had alot of headcases and transfers right before we went to the Final Four. No, I don't think this means we're destined for the Final Four, but you need to get some perspective.

since Gardner was signed to come here before Stansbury had his post season "chat" with Stricklin things have changed from what Stansbury originally promised Gardner. Stansbury probably always knew Gardner wouldn't be a starter right away but he promises the world to get the kids to sign. Now Stansbury doesn't have the luxury to turn the cheek to temper tantrums. He needs to change his recruiting tactics now that his new discipline and strength programs have been made mandatory by Stricklin. I like what I'm seeing since this meeting took place. Seems to me Stansbury has listened and is doing what was asked of him. Players can get better why can't coaches? I think it's a much closer path to high success with an improved Stansbury than it is to find and rebuild with a new coach. Let the season play out before you say fire Stansbury.

the basketball team going forward? With the team actually working out now and possibly more discipline being required, Stans seems to be doing things a little differently than in the past.

The Recruiter is coaching for his job this year- but even with the loss of a super talent like Gardner, I think we'll make the Tourney to save his job.

I just want to see the same treatment given to Sidney and others should we experience another situation like this- that will be the true test

ernnnnt. methinksknows you just like saying this bc Stans kicked him to the curb for being insubordinate so it looks like it was a poor decision. if he had stayed you would have said he sucked and was a waist of a scholarship or that Stans has done a horrible job keeping around an ungreatful little shat.

you can't use sarcasm as an excuse for your returdedness. you've been around long enough to know about sarcasterisks.

No matter which way this went down, you would have taken the position Stans f'd the situation up. You have no credibility on the subject because of this.

when he can....i.e. Pollard can come in and replace DJ. Otherwise Stans coddles egos until he can find a suitable replacement and/or gets fired, which apparently isn't going to happen. The only way he wins is with superior talent, because he doesn't command the respect of his players enough to get them to make the sacrifices that are necessary to win championships. After 12 years it's not going to change. Do you stay with the dysfunctional status quo, or do you try something different?
