You haven't heard.....

Coach 34&57 will cover it.

I normally agree with both, but here, they screwed the pooch.

They know football but they have no more insider info than anyone else on this board. I knew Wilson was interviewing yesterday and would take the job if offered. No insider scoop.

Is Tracy Rocker a long shot?

Not sure he would leave the NFL to come to MSU. But he has coached at Auburn, he's coached at Arkansas, and went to OM with Nutt. Could we pay him enough or would he even be interested in leaving the NFL? We were paying Wilson 300K. If we could open that up a bit could it be worth an attempt at him?

ETA: After doing some research, I've found another. Ricky Logo, the DL coach from Houston. Coached Osi and Ware and Troy, and Houston finished 13th in the country in sacks this year in his first year there. Also coached at Vandy from 2007-2010. Just another name to throw out.

I hope we have a heck of a coach and recruiter that wants to get back into things like Brewster did. He reached out to Mullen and looks like a great fit. I am hoping for the unexpected home run.

I imagine Collins knows who he wants to hire already for this job as well Melvin's. It's not like all this came down suddenly and was a shock. Plus he should have a good network of contacts from his FIU and UCF days.

Only way he's coming back is for the HC position. That job is filled.

For the record, I'm all for Orgeron. Though it won't even remotely come close to happening.

Tim Cross is being interviewed tomorrow for the gig. He's currently on the S+C staff at Texas. He coached with Brewster in Minnesota... so I'm assuming this is a Brewster recommendation. Cross helped Minnesota have a nationally ranked recruiting class during his tenure there.... which is exciting. If we can get another recruiter like Brewster on the staff, we'd be a lot better off.

Hopefully we replace Keonning with another great recruiter too.

for the record, I'm not. He's been a liability off the field a number of times for schools he's worked for. Plenty of qualified assistants out there that are not imbalanced.

Ed Orgeron is making $650k/yr @ USC -- BEFORE he got promoted to Assistant HC(likely raise) this year.

For $350k, we are certainly not going to be able to just name our guy at the spot. The Co-DC title has been our card to attract better candidates than we actually "deserve" for what we pay. There is a tremendous network of former Bulldogs that are loyal to MSU out there as DL coaches right now. But none of them have really jumped out at me as the best choice either. We need a lights-out semi national recruiter in this role -- and Brewster's recommendations should be highly considered.
