Anyone hear anything of substance yet?
I figured they would have announced by now with the portal opening up soon.

depends who you believe,

I seen one thats says the hold up is:
1. contract with Syracuse getting resolved (money)
2. the proper title for the position, that it has to be more then dline coach..like co defensive coordinator

Yeah I heard that he may be given the title of “recruiting coordinator” as well.

That would be insane if they spent a week negotiating titles. He's supposedly an ace recruiter, you could call him the janitor and no one will care either way.

Nobody here knows
You're right but the clues do add up. The coaching spot is still vacant, Robinson is still a free agent, and it's crickets from both sides. Have to believe he will be joining the staff soon which is another huge upgrade.

Just get it done is all I care about... if this team wants to be serious it's gonna take Dudes like this coaching to get it done! Someone like that can make an immediate change much like Eck did on special teams and that will make a serious impact on what appears to be a nasty 2026 schedule

I think he’s technically still under contract with Syracuse. He was never fired as far as I’m aware.
Yes, similar situation to Satterfield. Still under contract for another season but demoted to position coach. if Syracuse is going to pay him $2 mil + to coach DL, so be it. Why would he take another position at another school unless he is made whole by that school or until Syracuse fires him and pays him

Sounds like he's out. Which should be a lesson to all the rationalizing fools out there...these things don't take THAT long to clear up. If weeks pass by without any news, it's not happening.
I’d imagine they would have moved on by now if that’s the case1766160962061.png

So your take is he is staying at Syracuse? Since there has been no news of him going anywhere since the initial report of him going to LSU.

Sometimes if you don't have your guy by now it says he's still on the job coaching getting his team ready for a game the question is what game.
There are those type people that don't want their names in the headlines and become a distraction to the team.

Sounds like he's headed back to A&M?

Bummer either way.

Still happy with the other hires Rhule has made.

Looks like he played us to get a higher payday for himself. Hopefully we have someone else to fill the role. Someone with college experience and recruiting connections.

When Rhule gets fired two years or so from now we will look back and realize that his failure resided in a complete inability to put together a competent and stable coaching staff. Doesn't our third new DC in four years have any connections for DL coaches? Another year, and another round of Rhule looking for new coaches. And I don't want to hear any bullsh$t about how this is a different era of college football and it is much harder to keep quality coaches around. Because our issue is not keeping quality coaches around. Our issue is that Rhule keeps hiring crap coaches like Satterfield and Butler and Raiola (retained simply to get Dylan) and Bradden. Heck, I even think Tony White is overrated.

Great coaches begin with the ability to hire other great coaches. Rhule? Fail. All Rhule knows how to do is talk.

No, he's headed to TAM. Trev keeps owning this place and Eli R. keeps using it for raises. Figured we'd be smarter by now but we keep employing the worst coaching staff in the big 10 year after year so maybe not.

Why didn’t you write that then before Rhule said he wasn’t hiring a DL coach until after the bowl? You had no idea. Why did it take A&M so long to clear it up as well? He has been “available” for more than a week.

Add the kid WR coach and the drunk TE coach to his list of WTF hires. Remember the talk about Rhule’s Rolodex. He has great relationships and knows so many coaches. But he can’t seem to identify who is good at their job. He will a hire a kid with no experience anywhere as a WR coach because he cares so damn much about relationships. That’s more important than winning games.

Can’t blame ER. Rhule is the captain of a sinking ship. We will see if he can patch the holes with portal additions. Highly doubt it though. The coaching carousel will be returning to Lincoln in the near future once again.
This is 100% true. Working for Rhule right now is like counting on winning the Powerball as your retirement plan.

well, Teasley was supposed to be a second OL coach.. maybe that didn't sit too well, hence now he's being called a running game coordinator..

Matt being Matt weaving that golden tongue into knots.

On the bright side, I got to finally listen to his entire press conference, and he indeed wants a qb who can run.. he brought up that TO told him when he got here that he will need to be able to run the ball late in the season and inclement weather etc.

I hope he can be successful, but it's really wearing on him.

1 coach on offense Brathel (who shouldn’t be here as well) and 1 coach on defense Dvoracek remain in tact from Matt’s original staff. Obviously Satterfield still around too but he was demoted to another spot. This is embarrassing. That was only 4 years ago. And what’s worse is they needed to be replaced.

And good coaches aren’t dumb. They see the revolving door and Matt’s record and don’t want to come. It’s toxic. He’s not qualified to be HC. I’m sorry he’s just not. He’s one of those guys that’s talked his way into a spot he isn’t qualified for. And he’s played multiple ADs @ Nebraska to thinking he’s the answer. And only dumb people still believe it

Matt’s now desperate. He’s desperate that he’s trying to throw money at people and they are saying “no thanks”. It’s not worth it.

The man needs to stop talking and do his job. His job is to win.

What is funny to me is that Nebraska fans set and expectation of who the DL coach was going to be based on internet rumors, then are disappointed and for some reason blame the head coach for not doing what was necessary to hire this potential coach when that guy was quite possibly not even approached about the job or showed no interest in the job.

What happened to you leaving this board because of all of the negativity? Is the ******** and enormous time waste that goes on here just too much of a lure? Not knocking you because I post on here too.

Good point. Our expectations should be low. Matt Rhule’s the coach.
