a real good 23" tennis racket for my daughter? She is 5 going on6 and can already rally and is showing some real ability. I'd like to get her something besides the Walmart or Sports Authority aluminum racket for $19.95. Is there a real good framed racket out there that is 23 inches? Any suggestions on strings that would be easy on the arm as to stay away from injuries. My apologies if these are stupid questions, I just don't know much about tennis.

the first questions you can ask the tennis pro right after you sign her up for lessons. Not trying to be a dick but if you got visions of her being good/great ya better get her a coach.

They have an excellent youth program there. Get her involved in it. Even if you don't get her involved in the program there, they will be able to give good advice on a racquet and on stringing. If not in the Jackson area, find a good local pro (talk to sometennis playersin your town).

Edit: I would also highly recommend Mark Elliot at Castlewoods. I think even if you're not a member, you could probably get her lessons with him and/or get her involved in their youth programs.

My child is smaller than the kids she is hitting with. They all seem to heave these fancy rackets that are 25" or so. I can't seem to find the equivilant in a smaller size. I asked the coach once and he said" ah she's fine". I'd just like for my girl to have what the other girls have.</p>

I will look Mark up when we get home for Thanksgiving or Christmas. I'm in the mountains of NC where tennis rackets are most commonly used to kill carpenter bees. You guys are so lucky to be in the JXN area where tennis is king.

They just started making high end 23" racquets, and that Babolat Pure Drive Junior 23" might be your best bet. Synthetic gut strings at the recommended tension will be fine also, higher string tensions can sometimes result in elbow, wrist, or shoulder injuries.<div>
</div><div>Make sure you don't get a 26" racquet, as you've probably already been told in NC, 25" racquets are the maximum length that they are going to allow in 10 and under tournaments from here on out.</div><div>
</div><div>Question, does the program she's in now use 36 foot courts?</div>

She now plays from close to the baseline with the orange looking balls. I don't know how long the court is...it looks regular to me. Sometimes they go to the regular balls, but she has never played in a tournament. Her ground strokes are nice (I have been told that anyway), but she can't really serve that well. I hate to place her in aq tournament when she can't serve well.
