QB and WR talent we are bringing in? I haven't heard much discussion in this area? The Hawkeyes got a commit from Eno Benjamin from Wylie TX today... Army All-American RB... would have liked to see him in Lincoln to compliment the dynamic skill players we are starting to gather. Who do we have a good shot at landing?

I was wondering the same thing. This staff seems to have the NFL mentality in devaluing the IB position. Can't just plug in anyone.
They did recruit Ozigbo and Bryant who I think are going to be pretty good so I don't think they are devaluing the position.
I agree we need to get one in this class, but we have Tre Bryant coming in who I personally feel is going to be a monster. It might be good to redshirt him, but I can also see him potentially getting snaps. I'm excited about that kid.
Bryant was a pretty highly rated recruit. Ozigbo more under-the-radar, but appears like he was underrated based on what he's shown so far. He was a good catch by the staff during their shortened initial recruiting class.
No complaints so far on how they've recruited RBs.
1 full recruiting cycle resulting in a stud rb recruit and you've concluded they intend to "plug in anyone?" Did that come from your jump-to-conclusions floor mat?
I believe we will end up with a RB people will be happy with...may not be an early commit. My guess is someone that is already committed elsewhere (Carr), someone most don't think we have a shot at due to location (Hill), or someone that blows up during their senior year.
I am always skeptical of threads that begin with any scent of "Why can't we be more like Iowa".

LOL- So noted - appreciate how they have brought their backs along; but trust our coaches. Look at the Spring game and remember the stated goals; we want to run; we throw a lot to backs, as a release and primary to get them in space. They are incredibly important to this staff; they may believe one back doesn't have to be everything in every situation.I am always skeptical of threads that begin with any scent of "Why can't we be more like Iowa".

Nice pickup for Iowa. Good to see B1G teams pluck quality players out of Texas to hopefully make the conference stronger.
Kylin Hill, knows and plays at the same high school as Byerson Cockrell. He posted on twitter that he got a ton of hand written mail from the coaching staff.
RB and IB are not the same thing with this staff. Simplified RB is what Rivals lists as RB, IB however is what Rivals calls the all purpose back. This staff wants two of each on the twodeep depthchart not just two backs total.
With Bryant and Ozigbo at RB, we are good at that position till next year.

I'm confused by the distinctions you drew. In the past the staff has mentioned they want one guy to get the bulk of the carries and referenced Steven Jackson. He was of course a workhouse and a between the tackles type runner, but he was also fast and could run outside the tackles and was at least serviceable catching the ball. I think that's what they're a looking for, ideally, and if one wants to call that an RB or an IB I don't think there is a difference.
They seem to be more committed to having that one guy than, say, having one guy like Cross who can run between the tackles and a third down/scatback like Newby. I don't know why they aren't crazy about rotation and situational substitutions, but that is the sense I get. It also fits the mold of who they've recruited thus far in Ozigbo and Bryant.
Are you considering IBs to be smaller, shiftier guys ala Wilbon and Newby? If so, why that? At least for Nebraska, the term I-Back connotes a between the tackle runner like Lawrence Phillips, Mike Rozier, or Ahman Green - guys who were bigger but could clearly get outside and could have caught a pass, but who were runners first and foremost. IBs are workhorses, unlike an APB who is typically a jack of all trades and perhaps a master of none except doing well in open space, and not the type you'd want to give the rock 25 times a game.

I would agree with your definition of I-Back but that isn't what the staff has shown to be the case and that is what matters when looking at recruits and roster management.
Last year all backs were listed as I-Backs but that has changed. Go look at the roster. It now lists RB and IB as individual positions with Wilbon and Newby at IB and Bryant and Ozigbo at RB.
The runningback breakdown for the springgame also listed those same seperate positional breakdowns as well.
Oh, interesting, now I see why you divided it up that way! Didn't realize the coaches did that - doesn't make much sense to me, but whatever.

His film would indicate a replacement for Newby as Blackshirt316 has suggested regardless of the RB/IB meaning.
As a runner, he's not super fast at 4.64, but his film shows relentless inside running ability. His vision in that regard is outstanding.
Not too bad a film, and I agree he is relentless inside. I'm not too worried about his speed, as he will only get faster at NU. I still long for the days of the superstar RB. Tre Bryant for me could get there, but I feel that is what we are missing.

I think AA was really good, but for me he is not quite the gold standard. I am taking nothing away from Ameer as he was an absolute stud, but if you gave me a choice between some of the backs Bama trots out, or Todd Gurleys, Nick Chubbs... That is more my point. If we got another Ameer that would be great, but I would like more of the mold of our 90's backs. Big and Powerful with breakaway speed. To reiterate, AA is really close and was awesome.
Ooh boy, look at that balance and forward lean! I wouldn't compare him to Newby...not sure who I'd compare him to exactly. I almost want to say Clinton Childs but I'm not sure if I'm making that up about Childs' running style. This kid doesn't waste motion, he makes his move and keeps it pointed north & south. He's shifty enough to make guys miss and put the tackler on a bad angle, but he doesn't dance, he runs with a lot of power while still being agile. Love that montage of him finding the running lane and getting 4-5 yards where other kids would just freeze and get stuffed for no gain.
Not a lot of initial burst, he could try to work on that, but his top end speed looks solid. I like his eyes and his patience, and I love love love his balance. He makes some runs where he should have been down a time or two and instead he sheds the tackler off his back and keeps trucking.
