They play Penn state and Wisconsin before coming to Pway.
I think it would be good if they lose one of those and make them more vulnerable for what @rutgersal is deeming pandemonium in piscataway II

I really don’t care what they do, just concerned about our game coming up. Obviously we’re not in the playoff discussion.
Eh we may not be in the playoff discussion but if we beat Indiana and then follow it up with a win over an 8-0 Ohio State, maybe we crack the top 25 for the first time in 11 years, which would be huge for the perception of the program.

I'd say if that were to happen, it would be a lock.

Although highly unlikely it actually happens.

Lol . I have already lost it a long time ago !

But they play wisconsin the week before us …go badgers ??
OSU is going to be angry coming off a loss.

We need them feeling so good about themselves that they overlook us.

You have to want them to crush PSU but really don't care either way about Wisc except I hope it is a brawl that doesn't injure anyone but has them sore as hell.

I don't think a 1 loss or an undefeated OSU makes the game any easier or harder for us.

I think if they come into piscataway undefeated they will leave undefeated. Plum
Guarantee !

But if they come in with a loss….

No. they play wisconsin too before us .
You posted here how much you love Madison. Go badgers

I said I enjoyed Madison & it was a great place to watch a football game. Not sure I "love" it

But the OP questioned rooting for tOSU vs UW & psu. I don't have strong feelings about UW but I have VERY strong feelings about psu. I will never, ever, EVER root for them. EVER.

??? The discussion is about if it's better for us if Ohio State wins or loses their two games before we play them. We all know we are massive underdogs, but if we pull off the upset it is obviously more beneficial to us if we are their first loss.

This discussion is about a hypothetical that all of us know isn’t gonna happen so why not have fun with it?

For real, some of ya’ll are taking this entirely too seriously.

If we beat IU and OSU we are top 25 no matter what OSUs record is

Exactly.
8-0 isn't that much different than 7-1 (with a loss to a Top 10 PSU)?

Even if OSU beats PSU but loses to Wisconsin it shouldn't matter.
Wisconsin is a juggernaut and going to easily win the West (allegedly....).
No shame in losing to them.

EVER is really strong word.

What happens if a few years from
Now there is scenario where we need Penn state to beat someone to get rutgers a BIG title or get rutgers into the championship game ? Would you still
Root against Penn state in that situation ?
I think Rutgers fans would be forced to root for Penn state in that scenario and I hate Penn state too.

It doesn't matter. If we win, the fans will be excited regardless of what OSU does. If we don't the air is out of the balloon for the game. Even if OSU loses, they are still alive for the playoff with a game against UM left (let's be honest, we're talking about the PSU game result, not the Wisc game result with an injured QB). And if somehow we pull off the upset, everyone will lose their sh$t here regardless of what OSU's record is. First loss? How about ending their playoff hopes for the year?

Good post . We want them vulnerable. We just want to win. A win over Ohio state will be amazing no matter what its record is !

We still talk about how great that Michigan win was in 2014 and that was against one of the worst Michigan teams ever. Rutgers fans didn’t care about Michigan’s record.

I do NOT want Ohio State to lose to Penn State. The only time I would want that to happen would be if an OSU loss is needed for Rutgers to make the conference title game. That's not this season. Michigan, Ohio State, or Penn State are winning the East. I'd rather it be OSU first, then Michigan, but not PSU.

OSU losing to Wisconsin before they come to play us? I'd rather they come into town off a W than an L. Easily. More hype for our game, more chance of them feeling overconfident.
