I think we all feel the same way about Cecil. But based on all that transpired with the cowbell ringing at the egg bowl, the comments about his dad telling him to go to Auburn, and everything else that happened, it seems like Cam really probably had no idea that all this was going on. I can see Cecil being a Major Dad type of dude, very strict and stupid. My way or the highway type dad. That being said, if that is the case; it is very unfortunate. Cam Newton has had the best single season of football of any player I have watched in my 30 years of breathing and it pisses me off to no end that Cam really wanted to play for us. I hope Cecil gets whats coming to him and if there is one cowbell left on the market after they get banned and after this **** plays out, I'd like it. I want to contibute to the handbell program at Cecil's Temple.

He knew. He did want to play for us, but he knew he'd cost his dad $200K if he didn't play for Auburn.

Apparently Newton rides a scooter around campus... I guess we now know why.<div>

Even if Cam somehow knew about what was going on, I think the kid genuinely wanted to go to State and was pushed into a corner that didn't allow him to do that. I don't wish any ill will towards him.

Cecil and Auburn, though? No way in hell. When you break down the events of Cam's recruitment, what went down at the time, and what is currently coming out, the writing is all over the wall.

1) Cam Newton is heavily recruited out of Juco by Tennessee, Oklahoma, Kansas State, and of course MSU
2) Once the list is rumored to have been narrowed down to Oklahoma and MSU, Cam attends game in Starkville, rings cowbell, and is rumored to have notified teammates that he's going to MSU.
3) In the last weeks of his recruitment, Auburn is desperate for a QB and drops in our of nowhere after losing a key QB on their depth chart. Keep in mind also that Auburn recruited him out of HS but allegedly did not offer him after he had a bad camp at Auburn. Hence, he signed with Florida
4) Cam calls Mullen and tells him that he'd like to go to State, but Daddy Newton wants him to go to Auburn so he commits to Auburn
5) Cecil makes up three pages of BS to explain the decision that doesn't hold water in any way
6) Daddy Newton's church suddenly gains funds to remodel church that had been condemned

I don't know how much more obvious this could be that money changed hands and that Cam's recruitment was far from clean, and I think the only real questions out there revolve around who was involved.

I can't believe if it was 200k all the money went to the church offering plate. They could contact the contractors and see how they were paid? In cash or check? My bet is it was with CASH. If its a check it would be interesting to see how it was deposited. That is what NCAA must be looking at. Financial info is for the most part what you want it to be if its not through the bank......

I don't know about bishop daddy cam, but some pentecostal churches the preacher owns the church. No offense to any Pentecostals out there in cyber space.

I think he knew what was going on. I don't see how he couldn't have known. At the very least, he's guilty by association.

At the same time, it's not his fault that he was born to a Dad that is a sleeze bag. If I was in his shoes, and my Dad said, "Todd, I really need this money to keep the family business going", I would have a REAL hard time telling my Dad no. Actually, I probably wouldn't.

Regardless, if he is associated with an agent, he is an ineligible player by NCAA rule, regardless of what his circumstances are.

My take on the situation was Cam was given the nod he would have same deal he had at Florida. Papa Newton decides to test the waters and shop because Rogers had come to them early on in recruiting. Rogers says what he says to Bond. Bond doesn't have a clue and reports it and we just sit back mum.
