Seriously, the race card in NBA negotiations? This makes me navigate to the owners corner more. Stern said that Kessler didn't want to make a deal he only talks to enflame and create problems even at the expense ofreferring tohis clients asslaves ( a dirty lawyer...really?). David Stern and the owners have been business partners with african american players for years and now you claim racism. Do you think it is because like half the teams in the league are losing money not about a slave owning mentality. Owners buy a team in a sport that is what like 90% african american....to be racist. They can be racist sitting at home with billions in their pocket.

I could give two ***** about NBA basketball, but seriously the race card is for people to stupid to make a valid arguement for their cause another way. Theirnot smart enough to make an arguement so oh I'll use race. It is a default setting, a fallback if things aren't going their way, a reset button. Too much.

They pay these guys millions to play a 17ing game - that's close to slavery how ?? Slaves worked hard labor jobs their entire lives, were not allowed to get educated or vote, had their owners sexually abuse the slave females, and this is like NBA owners how?

As Cowherd pointed out, the the owners have a 50/50 split on the table. Jordan wants it to be 57/43 owners.

then band your money together and start your own "player-owned" league. Nothing's stopping you. Good luck running the day to day operations and finding venues as the current arenas are currently...what's the word..... Owned

but comments like that will definitely push public opinion to favor the owners. Only an absolute idiot(see Adrian Peterson, for instance) would play the race card in a situation where athletes of all origins are making millions of guaranteed dollars to play a game.

At this point, it's painfully obvious that the players have no strategy in this other than the fact that they want more money than what the owners are proposing. Whether the numbers have been massaged or they are completely legit, at least the owners have attempted to present some sort of financial evidence that the revenue split needs to shift towards their pockets in order to turn a profit. The players have presented next to nothing other than once again, they just want the most money possible. At this point, I think the players' only hope is to decertify and try to use antitrust litigation against the owners. If successful, it could save what's left of the season by forcing the owners' hands to accept a less attractive deal. However, get ready for ticket prices, concessions, etc to all go up. They're going to turn a profit one way or another and if that money doesn't come out of the players' pockets, it will come out of the fans'.

maybe they keep pushing and teams go bankrupt, and they don't have a league to play in anymore at all. I could do without it. If theyraise ticket prices I hope attendance really drops. I think tv ratings are pretty paultry thesedays.

I wouldn't mind seeing these sorry *** player get a wholeseason cancelled without pay. Live one year sort of like the rest of us (cept they have 20 million in the saving acct).

17 the NBA. Just do away with it. Didn't like pro basketball before and like it even less now! I watch MSU basketball (painfully sometimes) and that is it.

...will always "win" in sports labor disputes. They became owners by winning in business. The players became players by being good athletes. Unless they settle it via HORSE, the owners are going to get what they want.<div>
